Just a reminder that the government will hopefully be sending out some rebate checks in May or June. Nice way to put the money back into the economy and use it for your airfare to MCO, at least that is what we are doing. $600 for you and another $600 for spouse, and $300 for each kid, so try not to fret to much :)

rebates for what?

My aunt is a travel agent.. perhaps I will call her and ask her what is up w/the airlines. The airfare I was quoted was $719/person.. I have flown to MCO for as little as $177 (Jan 08).

When I researched this before making the switch.. (cant remember now what month I booked the cruise) but I checked the air, and it wasnt at the 331 days out (which is normally the CHEAPEST) and it was around $230 for the same dates.. HOW did it get to $719 the first day on the market??? For $719 it BETTER be 1st class!!!!

I think I might take my chances w/Southwest and drive an hour or so from my home to a different airport to get a flight. I even checked leaving ON Christmas Day and the price didnt budge!

I just find it all so odd!!!

what horrid prices.............

I'd call the airlines just to check and speak with a live person.

Same here and Christmas Day flights are always cheaper!!!! :confused3 I'm kinda relieved it's not just a 'me' thing - I was starting to get paranoid... ;)

Ok.. spoke w/my aunt. She said she isnt sure why they put them on at the higher prices.. that they can really start at whatever price they want. That perhaps call DCL and ask what the air add on would be, and specify that you want a nonstop... that occassionally a nonstop request would be a $25 surcharge onto the air add on.

I am going to call and ask DCL what they are charging for the air add on... and about the direct flights!!!

YIKES is all I can say.. My aunt was also surprised when I told her the flight to Orlando was $719/person. She isnt at work until Monday and said there was nothing she could do for me until then.. not that she can change the airfares!

I just checked several of the major airlines, Continental, USAir, United and all were over $600, Delta is giving me a $244/person, I think I may just book at this price since the others are so high. So check Delta and see if you all can get them more reasonably through them.

I was on delta for the $719.. You better grab that price.. that is REALLY good.

Ok.. just called DCL.. I had them add on the air, I can still cancel that w/in 61 days of the cruise.. (Will have to check back on that for sure.. but was told that I can cancel w/notice if something comes up (probably meaning I get a better price) They quoted me $476/person and that includes the transfer from the hotel to the airport. (so if you subtract out the transfer fee of $69/person that is $407/person for the flight).. NOW.. if I want to make specific requests.. fly in the night before AND be a nonstop.. that is a $50/person fee to make that request, and those are accepted between 180 days out from the cruise and before 60 days before the cruise. They tell you 30 days before the cruise what your flight information is.

I had them add it on.. and will see if Delta drops its prices from Boston.. if it does and I can do my own for cheaper and have control over where and when.. then I will cancel this portion. No money is needed when you add this on... so no worries there.

Custardtart.. Call and find out how much they will charge you from London.. to see if its at least better than you can find now.. and hopefully something might come up btw now and then that will be better and you too could cancel the air add on!!!

I just booked from Columbus to Orlando, nonstop leaving on 12/26 and returning on 1/3/09, for $244. Based on these conversations, I think I got a deal:cool1: Still a lot of money, but a heck of a lot better than $600 each for the four of us:thumbsup2

Rebates related to an "economic recovery package" that Bush is trying to get passed, similar to the refunds everyone received back in 2001 when he first took office. Check out the following article: http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/incometaxandtheirs/a/rebates2008.htm

niiiicccceeeee!!! will definitely help!!!

That's a fab price! Well done!!! :thumbsup2

John is getting much better every day...all the bruising is almost gone, he can even scratch his own nose now! He shaved (sort of) today. We went out for a bit, he's going stir crazy. I can tell he's not totally up to snuff yet, he got tired and achey after being out only an hour.

John went and got sick on me...now we are going to see the parade next weekend...

You all are quiet lately, anyone else find a decent airfare deal? Who signed up with DCL to book? That last option seems like a great one to hold onto a reasonable price without penalty~
