In our house it's soccer, baseball, car racing (of all kinds), (American) football and hockey...

oh yeah, and rally car racing too~

about the only thing they don't watch is probably tennis and basketball...we'll pay attention to the Tour de France but we really don't "watch" it.

when those aren't on, hubby watches Most Dangerous Catch, Dirty Jobs and just about anything on the Discovery Channel. My local cable company doesn't offer the Travel Channel or I'd be all over that! Every place I've stayed in for vacation has had it tho so that is my vacation channel of choice~

How apt! :thumbsup2 We get a version of the Travel Channel over here but it never seems to have the Disney programmes on...

We're pretty much 'sports' family....baseball - football & basketball is all i'll watch & in that order...DH will also watch golf, hockey - fishing (when did that become a sport?) - but we all love CSI - Vegas....I do watch Survivor - that's the only reality show i watch consistently....but DH does like that other one...some race thing...oh yeah - Amazing Race. I'm like you Colleen - the TV is on - i'm watching it ;) with the laptop so i can DIS or surf at the same time....very seldom can i just watch tv and not do something else....
something i really like to watch but don't get too very often is "What Not to Wear" - it cracks me up!!

DO LOVE the travel channel too - esp when it's Disney!!!!

Colleen - your big fireworks / bbq is tomorrow night....sure it will be a really fun time!!!! Ryan will most likely be wiped after two grueling days on the football field - so think we'll be pretty low key tomorrow night! Haven't been able to shop for that car yet...so maybe Sunday....

I like shopping for cars on Sunday...

No salespeople on the lots to interrupt you while you are just looking.

The Disney is why I want the travel channel. If they gave it to me without the Disney shows I'd be peeved.

We have been doing low key all week,

it's time to celebrate for us now :woohoo:

Florence, where my sister and mom live, is where we raised Adrian and Brittany. We moved to where we are now when Adrian started high school. That town has done their fireworks the week after the fourth for decades. It's a really big deal too. They have a parade in the morning, the whole town is either at it or in it. Then a concert and bbq and the fireworks to finish off the night.

They get a huge turnout because the holiday is now over and everybody is back home. It's cool. What I like best is their houses being so close we can either walk over to watch the fireworks or stay right at the house and watch them explode just over the trees. The family and all our close, long time friends are always there. except this year. But I will forgive you Mom for leaving, you are going to Disney

Traditions are so awesome....i DO miss the family traditions we had growing up....and i kinda think that they've kinda all fallen by the wayside with my 3 sisters as well :confused3 - they all have their hubbies & their families and new traditions - or maybe they just couldn't continue on with them once i left Iowa:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: yeah right!

Well DO have a fun time & Jill - hoping you & DG have a truly awesome time together at WDW - SO SURE you will!!!!

Thank you everyone. I will be at the Legion in Roebling they are having a ceremony at 11 am & then taking pictures of them in the parade.

But then, I have to finish packing.

I wasn't going to rent a car when we got to WDW. Fleetwood trans charges 56 a person. That would have been $224 both ways. This was cheaper than the rentals I saw. Last night for the heck of it - I typed "cheap rental cars" in. I found a economy car for $144 for the week & they are at the airport & it is a 2007 car. Had to do it.

Shades Of Green, where we are staying, is on Disney. However, they are not included in the bus service from the airport.

It's supposed to rain a little bit every day & at least with having a car we don't have to take a chance on getting wet waiting.

Well, moms gone and the fireworks are over. It was a good show.

I can share pics tomorrow.

I sure missed a lot of chit chat!

I love disaster movies, like Twister, Dante's Peak, Deep Impact, and of course the classic Towering Inferno. I also like slapstick comedy, like The Three Stooges.
Mel is into romantic comedies, which is odd since he's the most unromantic guy in the world!
Jesse loves anything with Will Ferrell or Ben Stiller, anything. He's a big Wes Anderson fan (a director of those types of comedies.)
Chad enjoys thought-provoking stuff, like Apocalypto, which I also thought was outstanding.

As for TV, Mel is constantly watching TV when he's not working or playing tennis. He'll watch anything, but he's partial to sports...ANY sports. My kids and I don't watch much TV. In the evening, Jesse is on XBox, but he does enjoy the History Channel programs. Chad's usually on his computer, and has FoxNews on in the background, though.

We're all into American Idol when it's on.
Oh, and I love watching the Westminster Dog Show, even though I don't have a dog!

So Jill's in WDW! I dedicate this  to her and Alyssa!

For the 4th, I took my sister and niece down to the pier to watch the Macy's fireworks, but they were unimpressed because of the crowds.

They left today, and even though I enjoyed it, I'm glad to have my peaceful home back again.

I'm going to upload some photos now, and see if there's anything worth sharing.

Hi Aisling....MISSED YOU!!! Watching Live Earth (in NY) right now with Bon Jovi....very good!!! Love that boy!!! DS had a couple of busy days at the football camp - it can be really hot and gueling scrimmages....so he has a friend over - they're on XBOX now...(& a few phone calls to girls i think)....but they're in the garage.....so we don't hear too much

oh we watched the NY Macy's fireworks at my SIL's house....kept looking for you :3dglasses but TOO MANY people in the crowds:rotfl:

Colleen - hope you really enjoyed your day....bet you're exhasted after such a long day....i haven't uploaded our 4th photos yet....

HAPPY 7-7-07 everyone!!!!

Tags are the little sayings under your 'signon' name...where yours says DIS veteran......Aisling's used to say something about "reading people well & knowing how to suck up to Judges"...that might not be exact...but it's what i recall.....

lol oh i see ok so those change automaticaly..is it due to the number of posts?

i don't think it's that....but really have no idea how / when or why.....i think it's pretty random.....

We're back.....

Thinking about Nan and her trip to China and sending her a belated Bon Voyage! She'll have the best time - walking the Great Wall is definitely one of my all-time most memorable moments... :cloud9:

Thanks and it was GREAT! Pictures a bit later today I hope!

I am in the middle of my birthday week (44 on Friday :cool2: ) :woohoo:

Hope it was a happy bday !!!

It is very difficult to finding a large photo of Mayan Aztec Gold.

I will edit this many times before printing.

Disney's Magic Mateys
New Years Cruise
December 27th, 2008

I will take any and all recomendations~

You know me, always have my .02 to add....can you make the dates show start and finish? 12/27/08-1/??/09???

Love the rest of it & hoping for hidden mickey ears too :goodvibes

have fun in WDW & at both movies....i love Harry Potter as well - and actually taking my son & my niece to Barnes & Noble's HP midnight party on Friday 7/20. Since it's the last book - thought we should go to at least one of those parties...& we got our books at midnight. This is a big deal for me...as you all already know i'll be up at 3 that day....it will tough to stay up till midnight & beyond....hope it's a lot of fun or they'll find me asleep on one of the chairs there.....:rotfl:

Brenda, do you have plans for this release? Molly and I would be up for a fun night if you have some ideas???? Which B&N are you going to be at?

:cool1:  :thumbsup2

Yay to that too!

Stefanie and Mom hung out periodically and DD only came to the pool when she was checking in with me. Aisling, Nan and Grim and Dede spent most of their days doing their own thing with the families and we would all meet up together each night at dinner.

:woohoo: I got me a pool buddy :woohoo:

I'm in for pool time this time, I've been there and done that so this time it's about the laying around and having fun for mama time.

I think i voted about 50 times & it was all worth it....read on~:cool1::woohoo:
"Not only is Barry Bonds going to the All-Star game in his home ballpark, he'll be in the starting lineup.
The San Francisco Giants star overcame a 119,000-vote deficit in the final days of balloting and finished 123,000 ahead of the Chicago Cubs' Alfonso Soriano on Sunday to claim the third and final starting outfield spot for the National League.
"I'm at a loss for words right now," Bonds said. "It just means more 'cause I'm at home. This is my town. This is my house. You can't say enough about being at home. It's great. This is the one I'll remember all time. This is the one I'll remember forever."
:cool1: :woohoo:

Brenda: I'll assume that you had 25 votes from me too (Thanks) I'm so glad he made it, it would be right for him to sit it out.

Morning Mateys! pirate:  pirate:

Feeling pretty good today - back is easing up and I've just had a very enjoyable Starbucks brew. Yesterday I paid the final balance for our September flights to MCO - Anniversary cruise here we come! :woohoo: Just got to finalise the details of our Vow Renewal (choose the music, cake, flowers, photo package) before disappearing off to sunny Espana next Tuesday... :beach:

Sounds wonderful! :thumbsup2 How warm do you think it'll be when we go???

Can't wait to hear about your Spain trip...wish I could hide in your suitcase.

:cool1: most definitely...when you only have a week on the ship...who wants to sleep???? well looks like i have Colleen to lie about the pool with & you for early morning coffee drinks....ummmmm - a Bailey's coffee at 5am sounds darn good doesn't it????

I'm in. Again, last time late mornings this time, it's about my clock...up early & drink & walk around sounds perfect.

Anyone gonna try parasailing at CC next year?

OK, I'm in on this too. Again, woulda coulda shoulda....This time mama time...

I wish them a wonderful trip, Brenda!

Jade, I really like 60's music; bands like the Doors, the Zombies, Lovin'Spoonful...man, if I were a teen in those days, I would have been a real :hippie: !!!!!!!
I also love Yanni and Kitaro. That kind of music really transports me. I saw Yanni 3 times in concert, and it was like a religious experience. It almost feels like he himself IS the music, the way he's trance-like while he's performing. Mel listens to jazz, which I can live without. My kids listen basically to top 40.

yanni0210big4vp.jpg

Aisling (& Tigg) I will not repeat the love of Yanni to the chicken (he may disown you as his friend) or at least make unmerciful fun of you for the rest of your lives....:lmao:

Hong Kong Disneyland was the best (part of the trip according to Molly) China was good, good food, interesting travel and GREAT people. Turns out 6 of the 20 in our group were singles from....Half Moon Bay. I have some new friends and all the doubts of us moving of course are now put asside. Even went over there yesterday. A friend (Chinese Husband, another long story) carried home a suitcase for me and Molly)

At HKDland, I happened to meet the head of Theme Park Operations....his first name is Larry. I need some snooping help to find out his offical title. I believe he was in the picture of the ground breaking or ribbon cutting, so I figure President or VP level. Again, a story in itself. (more to come, and of course I took his picture)

Glad to be home and missed you guys.

Love Ya,

Nan

Hi Nan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yay:yay: Nan is back!

Turns out 6 of the 20 in our group were singles from....Half Moon Bay.
If that isn't an omen, I don't know what is. (To those who didn't know, our Nan would love love love to move to Half Moon Bay.)

How did mom enjoy the trip?

Jade, what a good idea to talk to your mom about your DL trip. You feel better already!

About the tags, I have no idea why I got them. I'm just an average poster, not a lot, not very little. And I don't know who the Tag Fairy is, so I don't have an "in". But this is the third time I've been tagged!
(Thank you Tag Fairy:goodvibes ).

Jade, the Tag Fairy looks through the posts and chooses something that someone has posted, and adds it to the person's tag (avatar area) with color font. You can tell when someone has been "tagged" if their tag is in color.

I think Karen will be on her way to Spain tomorrow. Muy Bien! That's about all the Spanish I know!

YEAH Nan is home!!! Sounds like an awesome trip and how could it not be???

Glad you're up for the early morning coffees & walks on board too....i'm such an early morning person...i promise tho - NOT to get up at 3 am like i do at home....

For the HP party - we'll be at the B&N here in Gilroy on the 20th - that's where i pre-ordered our books....it starts at 7pm - not sure what all they have planned for that night....they don't hand out the books till midnite...but i'm sure it will be fun - and would love to have you & Molly down if you're up for that late of a night...thinking i'd like to see this movie at the imax....want to plan a day?

Glad you're all home safe & sound and had a great time too!!!!
