Hi

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, what's left of it.

Today Jesse and I volunteered at a Special Olympics bowling event. I'm trying to teach him about compassion and community service, but his attitude is  . Maybe it's the age, I don't know, but he thinks I'm the meanest mom in the world because of this. He did a good job with the 6 special olympians he was assigned to, but after it was over, he said he didn't want to do it again. It makes me sad, because I really wanted this to touch his heart, and be a learning experience for him. Well, I tried.

This reminds me of an incident when Chad was around Jesse's age. He went into a video store while I waited outside in the car. When he came out with the video, he was all teary-eyed, because he saw a blind kid his age in the store being led around by his mother (?), and Chad was all choked up with the realization that this kid wouldn't be able to see the video the family was renting. It was definitely an important moment in his life.

Chad and Lou are out shopping for last minute things for their trip next week. He already bought a Hawaian shirt for the luau at the Poly.

Jesse is out with friends at the park playing handball.

Mel is playing tennis, gee, what a surprise!:rolleyes1

And I'm home relaxing before I start to cook for tonight. I bought a ton of shrimp yesterday because Fr. Casey was here for dinner, and he loves shrimp, and there's so much left. I think I'm going to stir fry them with veggies and put them over boiled potatoes. I'm SO hungry!

The weekend went by too doggone fast.

Hugs to you all.

wow. only a couple more days til they leave huh? how you holdin up?

I told Cate about our color choice for our formalwear...

She gave me are you crazy look...cause it's so early....and I reminded her that now is the perfect time to look for one on a CLEARANCE RACK! and she said...ohhhhh, OK!

I'm working at the mall/skatepark this morning....it's very quiet here :ssst:

Hey Tigg

I was at the deli in Florence & a couple of guys said they ran into my bike & messed up the bumper real bad. (they were teasing of course) I saw the shirts they were wearing & said typical McCollister drivers. I told them my daughter used to work there. They said smart girl for leaving. Then I told them you work for Danny - right away they knew it was you & said you are very smart, good natured, friendly & pretty. :goodvibes

No, it was a young guy & and older black man & they were driving a mayflower van.

No biggie, thanx Mom!

I made quite an impression over there but that's only cause I did my job and cared about the people I took care of :teeth:

I'm on my way over to the other store soon....wishing I could go home and play hookie with John instead...he said he was taking the rest of today off to shampoo the living room rug and trim some of the hedges in the yard~

Dad's starting his drive home today, he should be back by late wednesday night~

I got us presents for our cruise....ebay of course.... item # 130092384749

Let's begin the buying.....

Unfortunately, I tossed all the extra lovely blue DCL boxes last summer. I had another 100 or so...but just couldn't keep sotring them, took them to RAFT (teacher resource place)

Tigg, are you driving down again? I think this time I'll mail a box of stuff to the ship. Not repeating that crazy luggage thing again. I wonder if we will fold and just have Xmas at the World again, ya think? What are the rest of you guys thinking? Too early to book, huh? Let me know what you think, I'd be game for staying somewhere not as $$$ as AKL. I think Paul would kill me if I even mentioned that again.

Work has been busy lately for me. Good $$ but I'm so darn not into it these days. I wish I was rich and didn't have to work. Sounds good huh?

Wilson started little league, first game was Saturday it was great. He loved it all. Molly is having her play debut this Friday. This is the one thru the park and rec dept. The director/author writes his play once he meets the kids that join the current session. A bit odd, but again, she loves it so it's all good.

Must get to work.

Aisling, you could never kill us, we are the group that will never die.......

They are sooo cool!!!

Good find Nan!

As of right now, I'd like to fly...Mom doesn't always like to fly so I expect her to answer this for herself. Hubby doesn't like to fly either, so we'll see.

I enjoyed the swap we did but honestly don't want to do that again. The matching Tshirts I'll do and Karen and Dom offered to design the next one for us if we want them to. If we do a mini-meet we'll have to see who gets there and when. I'd like to see us do a mini-meet before sail away, after the drill. That space was pretty clear for a while, long enough for all of us to say hi, have a drink, make a toast and start the party! This'd give us plenty of time to gather and still seperate for those who want to be on deck 9 where the party is vs those of us who are happy to stay on deck 10 away from the meelee :cool1:

Keep that money flowing Nan cause plans can change~

Hi All,

We are on the 2nd page so I thought I'd chim in.

Last night, I was so close to letting the "cat out of the bag" about our cruise to my stepson. His grades have gone down and he wants to blame his father and I for taking him out of school for a week at WDW. BOO HOO!!!!
We talked to all of his teachers before the trip, they gave him work and he had a week (winter ski break) to do all of that work. Which wasn't much! I was so angry and I told his dad that I didn't want to take him on anymore trips. The New Year's cruise sounds great, but if we weren't taking him we could go durring low season and pay less.
OK, I'm done, thanks for letting me vent.

I sure wish someone would have reminded me that being a Newlywed is not a fun time. I'm finding that it is worse this time around because we are older and not willing to tolerate what we used to. No, it isn't just me acting that way. If we could only live on the Magic and be pampered the rest of our lives. Oh well, reality SUCKS!!!!!!!!

If anything it's good therapy...

I bet thinking of the cruise put a smile on your face, didn't it?

One step at a time, one day at a time Debbie...Life is one huge challenge, it's how you handle those challenges that makes the difference. DHsDS is older isn't he? That means that even tho you are a newlywed the trials and tribulations of teenagers won't last too long.

Think of Disney and Smile, the kid'll always be wondering what you'r really up to ;)

~HTH~

colleen.

Thanks for the advise. DH'sDS is older and he doesn't get away with much with me but he still trys. I just look at him and remind him that I already raised 2 boys and I'm not going to make the same mistakes with him & that I know all the tricks. He thinks of me as the "Evil Stepmother." He actually respects me because I'm more on the ball then his parents are.

I am so looking forward to our next cruise but it is so far off. I'll have to make sure to find that Gold dress durring this next Christmas and New Year season. Then the trick will be not to gain any weight after I find it.

Debbie:hug:
I'm not a newlywed, but sometimes I want to :badpc: (<insert DHs head here), :stir: (<insert DH in this pot of boiling oil), :yay: (<insert DH under these jumping feet), :crazy2: (<insert DH getting strangled), :beach: (<insert DH tied up on the hot sand in the full blaze of the sun while I'm under the umbrella), :artist: (<insert DH, tar, and feathers being painted on him), :drive: (<insert me at the wheel aiming at DH), :genie: (<imagine DH being stuffed into this genie lamp with no TV forever), :yo-yo: (<insert DHs head on the end of the string), :teacher: (<insert DH with the board saying This Is How To Not Get On Your Dear Wife's Last Nerve).

So you haven't told your DSS about the cruise? How about telling him and hang it over his head as a bribe? It'll mean, Be a good boy, or else :boat: (<insert Debbie's DSS all alone at the port while Debbie and her DH wave bye bye!)

This is a tough one. I have 5 in my crew, so we'll need 2 rooms. The hotels that sleep 5 (Poly, AKL deluxe room, etc.) still wouldn't work, because I don't think we'd be comfortable with 4 adults and 1 almost-adult in one room, even if it's just for one night. I was thinking of the GF because it'll be a way to stay there without going broke, since it'll only be for 1 night. But still, two rooms at the GF at Christmas? $$$$$$$

Then I thought All Star Family Suite, but again, maybe we're spoiled, but I don't think Louise, Chad, and Jesse will want to sleep on the pull-outs right next to each other. Then I thought of two rooms at Pop or ASMo. Then I thought of AKL again, with that nice McDonald code, but I've already stayed there 3 times, and want to try something new.

Then, I hate to say it, but the bedbug threads have me skeeving ANY hotel at WDW.:scared1:

I have an idea!!!!!!!!

Let's camp at Ft. Wilderness!

It's only like $39 a night, and we can do the campfire sing-a-long the night before we cruise!!!!!!!:cheer2:

I normally stay at the Shades Of Green; but, when we were staying around NYE we had to book 3 nights just because it was NYE.
Have you thought about staying at one of the places by the port? It could be affordable & close & people could party. (Just a alternate thought)
Or Fort Wilderness could be good. Tents are out, though.

There's always Ft Wilderness Cabins!

They sleep 6 comfortably~

We will be traveling as a party of six and that would work for us.

I see no problem not telling ;) :ssst:
