New Years at DVC?

Does anyone happen to know what the chances are of booking a room over New Year's at a DVC resort (probably in June)? We're waiting to close, and starting to think it might be nice to visit WDW over New Years (we did it a couple of years ago, and really liked being there then, but the cash prices for the resorts were way too high!). Can you usually accomplish this? Or, would it be unheard of?

Your chances are slim, but not impossible. It depends also on what size unit you want. We decided about a week ago that we might want to stay at DVC for NYE and when I called, I was surprised that I was still outside of the 7 month window. There were no studios available at either of my home resorts (VWL and BWV) but I was able to secure a 1br at the BWV (darn, I guess we will just have to "settle" for having all of that space). A friend has points at OKW so I asked about availability there, thinking I could have my friend make reservations if there was nothing at my home resorts. They did have VERY FEW studios left, I didn't inquire about larger units.

So, you have a chance if you can be flexible about unit size and resort (and since you will be in the 7 month window, my guess is that you can say "i'll take something at any resort")

We were able to get studio at OKW for 12/29-1/-3 last year at he 6 month time frame(we were a little late in starting the plans). this year we booked 1 bd room at OKW for same time frame at 11 month and it was no problem.

As I learned this morning, never say never until you try with MS! This morning I was able to book a Standard view studio at BWV at 7 months for the busy DVC time of early December. And this was after I called 3 1/2 months ago and a nice CM checked for me (even though I couldn't book) and it was already sold out! So I never expected one to be available today. So you never know-call!

You can always waitlist - especially at BCV since more rooms will open up as more units are declared into inventory. I think the real key is to be flexible. Don't be too pick about the size of room or resort. Don't forget that you can be waitlisted for more than one resort at the same time.
