New Year's at Disney World

Hey Everyone!

My family and I will be heading to DW on 12/28 (until 01/02) to spend New Year's with Mickey. It's actually a last minute sort of trip (we lost someone very special last month and we'd prefer to be away from home for our first holiday without her), so I haven't had a chance to do as much planning and investigating as I usually do.

Can any New Year's Week veterans clue me in as to special things we should be aware of? Is there anything I should be trying to make reservations for or special events we won't want to miss?

My sister and I celebrated Halloween in DW last year and discovered some things we didn't know about before we went down there (pumpkin carving at the resorts, the party at Boardwalk, the hayride, etc.) so I'd like advice from people who've either been there for New Year's or have done their homework.

We don't want to miss out on anything!!

I only have info on what we did. Last year, we chose to spend our NYE at D-MGM... I had never seen the Sorcery in the Sky fireworks... NYE and July 4th are the only times they have those particular fireworks. During the evening, there was a LONG and steady line for hats and horns. There was a special stage in front of the BAH (big *** hat) with music, etc and lot's of carts to buy champagne for those that wanted it.
