DH and I are planning a trip for next month. We will call MS on Monday to check availability. We are looking for accommodations from December 28-January 3 (which includes New Year's Eve).

What do you think are our chances of getting a studio at any of the DVC WDW resorts? I know it's short notice. We are willing to stay at any of them. Does anyone want to share their opinion or past experience? Thanks!!!

We'll be doing our 4th New Year's at DVC again this year. In all cases we've reserved at the 11-month window. NYE is especially popular. We reserved OKW studio for Dec 30 - Jan 2 inclusive at 11-months, and waitlisted these same dates at BCV at exactly 8:00 am at the 7-month window. That waitlist has yet to come through. (At the time I was pretty confident but now it looks like we'll be at OKW after all)

Unfortunately I'm thinking your chances are extremely slim. Studios are very popular (because it's premier season and studios are fewer points).

You can call and check, but I'll bet even the waitlists are so long that they probably aren't even adding to those. Don't want to bum you out, but the chance of getting NYE at this late date is in all probablility 'impossible'.

The one chance, just to give a glimmer of hope, is that BCV might release more units to DVC just in time. This might let a number of wait-listed people into there, and since many of them probably already have a confirmed ressie at one of the other DVC resorts, it would then make that room now available. Basically a ripple affect. On the other hand, CRO may already have all future BCV studios reserved on a cash basis, and they can't be made available to DVC at all until next year.

Whether enough units would open up to fulfill all current waitlists is a question mark. Calling now puts you at the bottom of every wait list there is.

Your best bet is to call and check. Sometimes magic happens. If it does be sure to let us know.

I, too, think your chances are very slim. There was a disaster this year as lots of people who called day by day for a standard view at the boardwalk to include a studio had to scramble to change their whole reservation to preferred because so many MORE people called for JUST the night of NYE. I know standards at BWV were all booked up by about 9:05AM 11 months to the day for NYE and that preferreds were gone by about noon. I'm guessing that everything else is also booked up at DVC. This was a case where the 11 month window really was VERY important.

I have reservatons at the BCV in a studio for Dec 29 - 31, then have to move to a 1 BR for NYE, then back to a studio til Jan 3. I have been on the waiting list for a studio for NYE so we would not have to change accomodations since day one and nothing has come through yet. Those reservations were made day by day exactly at the 7 mo window. I too am hoping that more studios will open up as more become available becuse of increased sales.

I have a 2BR 12/28 - 1/3 and another 2BR 12/29 - 12/31 and 1/1 - 1/3 had to get two studios for 12/31 one at BWV, one at BCV. Both studios were booked at the 11 month window. Have been on the waitlist since June for 2 BR and still hasn't cleared. As far as rooms opening up as more inventory is cleared- forget it BCV is sold out through CRO as well. Only hope is if anyone cancels around 11/30 (31 day window). So I would call and wait list day by day in case there are some openings and if your willing, move to another hotel on 12/31. Good luck!

The real problem will be the night of December 31. You might want to consider booking something elsewhere for that night if MS tells you they have the rest of the nights available. Then again, maybe you'll get lucky.
