We had a last minute trip that fell into place and we’re going to be in Disney World for 2 days. 12/31 and 1/1. We will be arriving after rope drop on 12/31, but we have an awesome TA who managed yesterday to snag us MK reservations for that day somehow. So we plan to be in MK for nye. We’re staying at Pop and I know it will be a logistical nightmare leaving MK no matter what we do, but would it make more sense to drive to Pop and use Disney transportation knowing it will be mid day before we get to the park, or does it make more sense to drive straight to MK?

I normally prefer to drive to the parks, but I’ve never been at a time that is this busy and have had no experience with post Covid Disney transportation so I’m not sure what to expect. Thanks!

This may not be the help you were looking for, but I don't think that, on NYE, there is a 'right' answer....just really the one that makes you feel most comfortable. Surely the lines will be long for the buses, but that will be planned for best as they can. The lines to leave the parking lot also will not be a picnic. Just which of those evils is the lesser for you. I hope you have a great experience though!!

I'm going to vote for taking the bus from Pop. It will allow you to completely bypass the line of traffic leading in and out of TTC that day. Just be prepared for a slower bus time to and from the park and a huge line for the bus at the end of the night.

May not apply, it was before park reservations...a few days before NYE we were the last people allowed to park. We were in the last row, not even paved.

I go with pop bus.

I would recommend Pop bus too. 100%

One extra suggestion - Wait for a seat on a bus rather than standing. The ride is normally almost 15 mins long and I’ve heard NYE traffic can be a nightmare. I’d be prepared for a long wait then long ride and be pleasantly surprised if anything is different.

I too vote bus, at least then you can zone out while someone else manages the terrible roads. Lol

I would not attempt to drive anywhere NYE. Take the bus.

If you’re planning on staying til midnight, just hang back and let the crowds leave. There is no point in trying to leave with the mass of crowds. Relax a bit and hang out on Main Street. :)

Take the AofA bus back if the line is shorter Than Pop’s.

No driving on NYE… It took friends 4 hours to get back to their resort several years ago via car.

Thanks for all the good feedback! Bus it is! We'll just have to deal with getting the park a little later, but it's going to be a long day with long lines no matter when we show up.

Kind of kicking the tires on maybe watching the 6:30 fireworks in MK and jumping on the monorail to end the evening at EPCOT for a few drinks and jump on the skyliner back to Pop to avoid the MK chaos at midnight. Leaving the car at Pop will give us a bit of flexibility here so definitely seems to be the way to go!

DO NOT DRIVE! Definitely take the bus from Pop, IMO that is hands down the best option, especially on NYE.. The roadways will be extremely congested and the parking lots may even fill to capacity, I would not risk it and IMHO driving anywhere on WDW property on NYE sounds incredibly stressful and time consuming, I would rather be sitting inside a nice air conditioned bus chatting and thinking about park plans than dealing with traffic... ENJOY!

Park Capacity Hot line …
Good luck with those plans .
What are the concerns?

With reservations, you are guaranteed entry and park hopping has not been restricted since reopening (one 90-minute exception). We park-hopped on NYE last year...

In fact, even before reservations, parks had not closed to capacity for resort guests in over a decade during the holidays...
