New XPass Hardware at Space Mountain

Some new equipment has been added at merge inside of Space Mountain this week. It is currently covered with the typical blue coverings you see on FP machines when they are closed. It is about 4 feet tall with a large ball on the top (I'm guessing this part will house the scanner), and is positioned next to the FP line just after where people with FP usually give their FP to the cast member before being send down either side to ride.

Word is Space will be one of the first to test this new system, and will be doing so very soon. This is no surprise as Space Mtn usually is the guinea pig for FP tests.

Its suppose to ease the process with a wave of your bracelet rather than fumbling with physical passes. To me, instead of people who can't seem to get their fastpasses out or have them ready, there'll just be people too consumed in their phones or talking that they won't realize its time to wave your band... I'm curious as to how it'll function fully, I just still don't see it as some huge thing that's worth the cost and time...

It's more than that, as it's also supposed to encompass pre-booking your Fastpasses before hand, plus many other NextGen technologies such as customized meet-and-greet experiences and stuff.
