First a little background - We took a trip to WDW in January - for the first time - came home and within a week decided to buy into DVC- didn't even see any of the resorts first - we decided to go for SSR - we figured that having 2 small children - Ben 3 and Imogen 1 1/2 we are likely to be visiting WDW for a few years to come- so we thought we'd buy now and repent at leisure.

We bought 600 points figuring that we could do approx 3 weeks a year at the resorts - we are really flexible on dates and not really fussed with staying over on saturday nights so thought we'd save some points there.

I've been lurking ever since we first thought about DVC and you guys have all helped me a lot with our decisions and are so informative - put it all in plain english.

I have a question though regarding peak dvc times- we are going to SSR in May and booked a 1bd apt - I would at some stage like to try the other resorts too - and yes I've read about the 11 and 7 month stage - my question is what time are peak dvc times - i know that they probably differ from peak park times. We intend at the moment to travel for 1 week in may - a week at the beginning of Dec -DS birthday and a n other during the year - not june, july & august - it's humid enough in texas for me without the added pressure of lines and kids on vacation - do you think we'd have any problems perhaps in december trying for another 1bed in another resort.

Thanks for being so helpful

Kerry

Early December is a peak DVC time, since the point usage is reasonable, the average park attendance fairly low, and decorations and activities in full swing. I would book at SSR at the 11 month window, then try to switch over to your resort of choice at the 7 month window...chances are you will find some availability at most resorts, but if not, you still have SSR.
