*NEW* WISH Weight Loss Thread for 2008 - All are welcome

Hi there!

I'm Cathy and this is my first BL Challenge! My ticker is lost somewhere. LOL! However, I hope to lose 31 more pounds this year. (I lost 14 pounds in the past few years.)

crgfsu1 I dont know all the details of this group - but can I join in? I'd like to loose 40lbs this year (well, I'd like to loose more, but I am trying to be realistic..)

Thanks!
Cathy
Hi Cathy!

Good to see you here!:thumbsup2

My goal is to lose 30 pounds this year, if not by June certainly by the December 1, 2008.

I have sent out all my specifics and am waiting for my "buddy".

Here in Michigan it has been a rough start to the New Year already. We got about 7 inches of snow overnight New Years Eve, then on the morning of 1/1/08 we woke up only to have a power outage that lasted from 9:15 a.m. until 7:30 pm, due to a downed wire on account of the heavy snow. I went to work on Wednesday only to have lake effect snow all through the morning to late afternoon for another 6 inches of snow. I got home from work and shoveled the driveway some more. I looked at it from the perspective of lots of exercise here.:yay:

This is such a fun thread already, nice to see and learn about all of you.

Wow, what an overwhelming response to the start of this thread!!! Good luck to each and every one of you on your quest!!!

Hi Debbi :yay: Count me in, getting back on track after the holidays. I am working toward reaching my goal this year. I don't have a specific number in mind, but we will see where my journey takes me! Thanks for starting this thread - it is good to see some familiar faces, and welcome to the new ones!:grouphug:

Hi Lynn,

I dont know what you mean by sending out your specifics and waiting for your buddy...huh?

I am glad I am not in MI!! I love to see snow, for a weekend or so, but by no means do I want enough to shovel. We dont get a lot of snow here, more ice than snow. But that too, is not that often.

Cathy

OK, I'm going to lose that very hard 10 pounds - it's the last after having a baby (4 YEARS AGO!!!!) AND NEVER WANTS TO GO AWAY!!!!!!!

:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

I'm trying to lose some weight after having gained a LOT in the last two years & developing some health problems.

I was never a "diet" sort of person until now ...

I don't know if any of you know what I mean, but I am the sort of person who doesn't care what others think of me, don't mind being a bit pudgy, was always happy with my weight, how I looked, etc. However, now, with these health issues, it really is time! I'm thinking that about a 50 pound loss would really help me, even though that would still leave me a bit on the pudgy side!

lynnielou, I'm in MI, too. Where are you? I'm in SE MI, around Ann Arbor.

Ok, I'm in. Need to lose 80 (at least I think), but would ecstatic with anything more than 10. I'm glad I found this--maybe the support will help. Thanks and good luck to everyone!:thumbsup2

A new year is upon us and our 2007 Weight Loss thread was a huge success so here we go for another year. Last year our goal was to try to lose 2007 pounds in 2007, we didn't quite make it, but I am impressed that our WISHers lost over 1410 pounds!

This year I challenge everyone to top the 1410 pound weight loss and work towards reaching a loss of 2008 pounds in 2008. Whether we make it or not every pound that is lost will be one step closer to a healthier you!

Happy New Year one and all and here's to a happier, healthier 2008!!:wizard:

I'm in for 50 pounds in 2008!!!!

Hey,

Thanks for starting this thread. I'm in to get down to a 12/14 by the end of this year. Honestly, don't want to be any smaller. I think I would look strange. I know, I know many overweight people say this but for me it is true. I'm big naturally. Not overweight naturally. I take care of that one :lmao:. But big naturally. I used to hate my size, bones etc. But now I'm fine with it. I'm at 16 plus right now. But I'm sure that's not really only two sizes to lose because I think plus cuts bigger. I know actually.

Anyways rambling. Lost 25-35 a year ago (didn't used to weigh myself so no exact start weight) and kept it off all throughout 2007. Great. But tired of the year long plateau. Now that's a plateau!!:lmao:

So in for whatever it works out to in weight!

Happy New Year!

Lisa

Otto's Doll. My goodness. Just caught your counter! Holy! Way to go. So inspiring. Congratulations to you.

Hi everyone- I am new to this thread not really sure how it works but I definitely want to loose some weight this year. Actually I e-mailed my doctor last Monday to talk to him about gastric bypass surgery. Is there anyone here that has done that. I know one woman, that recently moved away so I am not in contact with her anymore, who had it done. She was very happy with the outcome. I know it is a life change and that part is pretty scary. I am having doubts of "If I can't stick to exercise and high protein low carbs now how am I going to do it after a life altering surgery?" I am not big on sugar so that wouldn't be a biggy for me just high fat foods. Anyway, I could definitely use some kind of support no one in my circle of work and friends deals with weight issues so they don't get it at all.

Hi, all! :)

It's great to be back on the DIS after an extended absence. How is everyone doing? I went to my WW meeting this morning and lost a total of 3.0 lbs! I'm down 7.4 since starting WW! :) Very exciting!

Are we doing the total tally for the thread? If so...

TOTAL WISH WEIGHT LOSS FOR 2008 3.0 lbs.

I can't wait to hear about the upcoming success stories and hear how fit we are all becoming!

Oh, I'm exactly like you. I think my goal would be to be a 12/14, too. :yay: I've never been thinner than that, except when I was an angsty teen, but I always thought I looked just fine! IMO, a lot of women just naturally have some curves, and it is beautiful. I just need to get back to the **some** curves state!

I'm in too! I completely lost myself last year. In fact I dug out my stats from January 1st last year and I gained 24#!!!:scared1: :confused3 :sad2: :headache:

So, are we supposed to post what we hope to loose this year? I am PLANNING ... no, I change that to I WILL loose 104 pounds this year. 2# per week!

I'll weigh in on Tuesday and add those 2#!

This is great, I'm in!

I just got the newest WW magazine and I faked that I was shocked, that Weight Watchers knows I am still fat, after all this time. My DBF then says to me...

"Are you kidding? They could probably see you on Google Earth, and thought you were a new country....
Kristinastan!"

Somebody isn't getting any dessert tonight! ;) !!

Oh my, I don't think any court of law would convict you for enduring that comment!:lmao:

lynnielou, the info you are looking for is on the biggest loser week 1 thread. Buddies are listed too. The thread is found here... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1672499

Count me in I have been a lurker here for awhile.
Oldest Dd is getting married in may and I would like to look somewhat thinner by then but over all for the year I'd like to lose about 50lb

Perception is so funny. I just found some pictures of me at thirteen. I had lost some weight. And probably was very happy for it at the time. Very. Honestly, I was really emotional seeing them. My bones. They just didn't fit the size. I didn't find it pretty at all. Actually I thought I looked ill. But I was emotional seeing them because I bet I was so glad, ecstatic, to have lost the weight and to be like everyone else.

I thought it was interesting that I found them when I did. Now. It's like there are no mistakes because I'm finally accepting my size (don't get me wrong I need to lose weight to be more comfortable) for the first time in my life and I'm forty. It took until forty? Well, better late than never. But it makes me so sad for girls who struggle when they just don't have a certain frame.

Count me in. I have to get motivated. I have had a horrible time losing weight and need all the encouragement i can get. I would love to lose 100 lbs but will start out with a realistic goal of 50
