I wanted to make sure there are clocks in the rooms? what about cd player? thanks! jama

There is a clock radio in the room, but no cd player...at least not in our room.

We arrived home two days ago from the most magical trip ever. The Wilderness Lodge was done up in all her finery and the view as you first entered the lobby actually took my breath away. I found myself standing there with tears in my eyes.........If you have not experienced the Lodge at Christmas this is a must see.......We were given the very best treatment at this wonderful resort. If you dine at Whispering canyon, be certain to ask for Tiny as your server fro breakfast or lunch. He is a hoot and a half. Tell him the folks from Texas who had everyone sing to him for his birthday send their love.
I wish for each of you the joy in your hearts this New Year we felt while staying at the Lodge this December.........better than that I could not ask.........Happy New Year.

Hi guys! This board is fantastic! I've been reading for close to two days for hours at a time!
Has anybody taken the tours at WL? I think there are two... one at 9am and one at 3pm. Could someone tell me what they are like? I know I'll love them no matter what, but I'm trying to figure out of I should pull along some others in my party that aren't as big of Disney nuts as me!

Thanks!

I know what you mean! I had watery eyes also when we walked in and saw the gorgeous tree, all the beautiful decorations, it was just breathtaking!!! We are planning to go back again of course, and my whole family says they won't stay anywhere but the WL now! Uh Oh!!!

Is there an ironing board and iron in the room or will I have to request it?

Also, regarding a coffee maker. Can I request that also? I know they don't come standard in the room.

Blondie,

Yes, there was an iron and ironing board in our room, in the closet, when we arrived.

We didn't ask for a coffee maker because we got refillable mugs, but I've heard several people say they asked housekeeping for one and it was delivered along with coffee. I also saw housekeeping taking a coffee maker to a room during our stay.

Wow! We just returned from a 13 night stay at the WL. First, a huge thanks to Askmickey!! The room we had was exactly what we wanted! Room 5071, 5th floor overlooking the lobby with a wonderful view of the inner courtyard and lake area, very convenient to the elevators. Thanks so much for all your help, I can't tell you how much I appreciated what you did. We arrived on the 19th around 1:00pm and got our room immediately, which was great as we were exhausted from getting up to make a 5am flight. I don't have a single complaint about the WL. The Christmas decorations were gorgeous, and the staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. We got tons of towels animals, a first for us to ever get any!! All told we got 7 towel animals and even a couple of towel animal scenes....especially loved the water slide. Every day our mousekeeper would do something creative with the towel animals and with the stuffed animals we kept collecting as we shopped. The best had to be on NYE. We arrived back in our room very late and apparently all the towel animals and our own stuffed toys had a NYE party in the bathroom. The maid had strung tp from animal to animal, it was hilarious!! We ate at WCC a couple of times and really enjoyed it. We more than got our money's worth out of the refillable mugs and ate several times at Roaring Forks. Not a bad place for a quick meal. We also got to be Flag Family on the 30th. The view is amazing and I highly recommend trying to do this, it's incredible! The bus and boat service was excellent, no wait longer than 10 minutes, most times less. All in all, we had a great time and I can finally claim to be a WL veteran!! I'd be happy to answer any questions I can.

Peachgirl,
Glad you had a great trip. I LOVE WL!!! It is breath-taking! I have a question about the boat service as MK. Do they still take you to Fort Wilderness before going to MK? What about the return trip? Does it go straight to WL? When we visited in March 2001, there was a boat that went from WL to Mk, with no stop at Fort Wilderness, but I hear that does not exist. Is that true?

Do they still take you to Fort Wilderness before going to MK?

All MK boats shared with Fort Wilderness. It may have been due to the holidays or maybe it's the way it always works, but there was no pattern I could figure out as to which resort the boat would stop at first. This was for both the trip to and from the MK. I've read some complaints about sharing the boat, but really it only adds on less than 10 minutes to the trip and didn't bother us at all. The boats were frequent and we rarely waited more than a few minutes for one. I have absolutely no complaints about the WL transportation whether by boat or bus and I am not, by anyone's definition, a patient person!:D

Is there a seperate boat to the CR or does one boat make all the stops? We hava PS at Chef Mickey's our 1st night and would like to take the boat.

Yes, there is a separate boat to the CR. The blue flag boats (smaller) travel between WL-FW-CR (don't quote me on the rotation!), while the green flag boats travel between WL-FW-MK (again, the order is subject to change).
Have a great time at Chef Mickey's!

We're back from a week in the great state of FL. Wow! What a wonderful trip we had and what a breathtaking place the lodge is. I can't imagine staying anywhere else! We had the exact room I had been hoping for and it must have been magic because the only thing I requested was bunk beds, just hoping to get the rest. We were in room 6024 and I can highly recommend it. It's on the side with the otter pond (although we were never granted a sighting) and a view of the Magic Kingdom. We were able to watch the fireworks from our balcony every night. We also got our bunk beds and the kids loved them! We ate at Whispering Canyon twice and it was really fun! Jailbird Jessie is a great waitress to have! We rode the boat to MK several times and it always went straight from WL to MK and back so I guess it must have been stopping at FW before and after it picked us up and dropped us off. We also used the bus and monorail transportation and never had a very long wait for any of it. We loved the pool area with the stream, waterfall and geyser and especially loved the family of ducks who swam with us in the pool (3 little baby ducks too!). We had a great time (I think you can probably tell, huh?). Now let's see, when will the next trip be? Hmmmm........

On our first trip to WDW last May, we stayed at WL and stayed in Room 2001, which was actually a pretty good room for us. My husband suffers from severe migraines. The room had a quiet woodsview and a privacy balcony, which he preferred so he could sit out in the morning in his pjs!
Anyway, we're going back (hooray!) to WL on Jan, 28. I was wondering if a floor higher up might be even more quiet. But, how high up can we go and still have the privacy balcony, as opposed to an "open" one?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks very much in advance!
(BTW, DH only had a moderate headache on our departure day--which was great. I'd been so worried he'd have a 2-3 day stay-in-bed-all-day type during the trip!)

Karla B. - We just got back yesterday from a stay at the lodge and we were on the 6th floor with private balconies. The lodge was jam-packed it seemed over the New Year holiday but we never had a bit of trouble with noise and never even noticed any neighbors until the day we were checking out! It was very peaceful to just stand out there and admire the lake or watch the fireworks from MK.
