Legend , thanks for your report on WL. Can not wait to read a report about AKL and RPR. thanks...amy

NJPhyl... I would just say that you have a standard view room booked and would like to be on the 6th floor north wing if possible. If you have a bedding preference (2 queen beds or 1queen and bunk beds) make sure you add that in too. The fax # is 407-824-3232 in case you needed it :)

Just watched the Travel Channel special on the WL and I'm more excited than ever to see it now! It was so much nicer than just seeing it in pictures on the web. And I think I finally caught what they do at WC if you ask for ketchup! ;)

If you missed it today and want to catch it later -- it's on again Wed. the 9th at 5:30 and Sun. the 13th at 11:30. (EST)

Just 83 days to go!

Question for HumphrytheBear or other CMs,Askmickey. There was a Space Shuttle launch today. Can you see it from the resort or the Orlando area?

We'll be at the lodge 11/9-12 then continuing stay at BWI. There's a tentative shuttle scheduled to go up 11/10. For me and I think daughter and mother, it would be really neat to be able to see the vapor trail or better still, light if it was a night shot.

Sorry that this is a little off topic but you are there in the world now and i was really curious....

Yes Hightown on a clear day (or night, depending) you can see the space shuttle launch from the Disney Property. Your best bet is to ask a CM if they know what direction you should be looking as you can get a little disoriented once on property and the direction you think you should be looking is totally the wrong way. KSC is about 45 minutes East of WDW so it will not be big in the sky, but you can see the vapor trail and the orange glow of the flames :) It is definetly something ot see if you have never seen it.

Hey all, so I have gotten a few PM's (which I don't mind at all)asking me "who" Humphrey the Bear is. Well, I figured I would just let everyone know in case anyone else was wondering the same thing. For those of you that have not yet been to WL, or those that have been but didn't notice, Humphrey is the "mascot" of WL. He is the bear from the cartoons with the park ranger :)

You're jealous of me? I see by your countdown that you'll be there in 5 days -- I'M jealous of YOU!! :) :p :) .

Have a great stay!!!

for answering my question earlier and also for explaining about Humphrey. I was in the dark about that too!
:D

We saw the Space Shuttle take off one morning, 3:30 am.

If we stand on the beach at WL, and look towards the right you can see it.

:D

I don't get the Travel Channel either, but my friend is taping it for me. :)

If you stand/sit at the CR's marina and look straight ahead you'll see the Shuttle rise over the lake and trees.

Since the shuttle launches have come up, for those planning on being there the first of November, there is a scheduled launch. The website says not before Nov 10. I hope it is the following weekend as I will be down for FSU's Homecoming and my little girl (and Me) would love to see the shuttle launch.

Somewhere on the net I found a map of the WL which showed the different wings and which room categories were where. Does anyone have any ideas where it is? I cannot locate it - I think it was included in someones private web site. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks. (Thanks again to Humphreythebear!) :jester:

I know this might seems like a silly question, but here goes. Has anyone ever requested to be downgraded to a room? I know most people want an upgrade, but I'm trying to get my parents' room switched from a courtyard to a woodview and am having no luck with CRO. I, of course, will keep calling CRO, but am trying to plan in case nothing opens up.

Saw the Travel Channel show on the WL yesterday and made my husband watch the tape the minute he stepped in the door! It looks wonderful!

It happens often :) A lot of times the room assigner will do a comp upgrade and then when the guest arrives they don't want it. I can't say that I have had anyone offer to downgrade a room that they booked, but I understand your situation. You could always try calling the room assigner directly, about 5 or 6 days prior to arrival, 407-824-1044 (that's the phones room, which is a chairs roll away from the r/a and explain that you are booked in a courtyard but really wanted a woods view, I know from experience that 90% of the time they would be more than happy to do that for you :)

Thank you HumphreytheBear for the info on calling the room assigner to try to switch rooms. As it turns out, perseverance pays off!! I called CRO first thing this morning and got my parents into a woodview room and got both of our rooms switched to the military discount!

I am so excited about this trip that I am trying to talk my DH into going to WDW again in early Feb.!!

HI!

I know someone asked this earlier but I never saw a response!

Is WL crowded due to CB closing?

SHould we have a problem getting adjoining rooms - one with bunks- even though we have 3 adults in our party? TA is faxing request on Friday.

Whho WHoo -
Look at my countdown ! I am so excited - I don't care if they put me in a closet at least I will be there!

I don't know much about the WL, but I just thought I'd help you clarify your request. In "hotel speak," "Adjoining" rooms means close to each other (across the hall) or next to each other but without a door in between the rooms. "Connecting" rooms have a door that actually connects them. You might already know that, but I used to work in a hotel and there were numerous mix-ups and not-happy people who got what they requested...adjoining; but the problem was they'd wanted connecting. :)

I'm pretty psyched about my countdown as well. I'll be at CSR, but like you said...who cares! I'll be at Disney!!
