NEW Wilderness Lodge FAQ!!

Greetings..... I've seen postings here mentioning a "Room Assignment Desk" at WL to request certain room amenities. Is that the same number as the FAX number? Or is it a separate number where a CM will actually answer the phone?

What is the phone number for the Room Assignment Desk?

We've stayed at several different DW Resorts, but this will be our first time at WL. We'll be there October 5-12 and are really looking forward to our visit!

Thanks to all responsible for making this FAQ available. It's a **GREAT** resource!!

I wanted to thank all of you for this thread- it has helped immensely in planning a trip for a dear friend of ours who has stage 4 lymphoma. They will be arriving 9/13 with their two boys- I'm trying to plan out any extras they may want to do- I've scheduled Liberty Tavern dinner, Donald Duckosaurus breakfast and the Pirate Cruise. Have any of you been to the Hoop-de-do-Review? Horseback riding at Fort Wilderness? Mouse boats? Or are there any neat things they shouldn't miss at WL? Their boys are 5 & 8, Caleb (8) turns 9 on 9/15- anything special I can arrange for his birthday? They will be there until 9/19 and have three days at Disneyworld, 1 day at Universal and 1 day at Seaworld (tickets donated by Disney compassion program). I've spent many hours copying and pasting former posts and have fallen in love with WL- I know they'll have a blast- just having those last minute jitters hoping I've planned for everything!! :)
Thanks!
Tara

I sure do hope they have a wonderful time while they are there; I bet they will! I can give you my opininon of the Hoop de Do - we thought it was great!! My husband & I had gone on our first trip together for our honeymoon back in 1994. Even the bus ride to the Hoop de Do was a blast - we had such a funny bus driver. He had everyone in stitches! Anyway, we still talk about how much we enjoyed going that - I remember it was rather expensive, but very worth it.

The only negative thing was this: One of the reasons for the expensive price is this is an "all you can eat" table service meal AND a show. If you are a slow eater, such as I am, they take away the food very quickly and you leave hungry. After the show was over, we had to get stop somewhere so I could pick something up to eat... So if you do go, make sure you eat very quickly. If you have small kids with you & you have to tend to them, you more than likely won't have time for yourself to eat. Maybe things have changed by now with that problem. Hopefully you can get some more recent reports on this.

Good Luck and wish the best!

Everything's packed...the house is cleaned...the tickets are tucked away in a carry on...luggage has been measured and weighed...Disney music has been listened to non-stop for the past 24 hours (my co-workers are getting REAL tired of Zippity-Do-Da!)...room requests (for bunk beds....of course!!!!) have been faxed....now all that is left is to sit here at work and wait for 2 pm to roll around! The day of the show has arrived! After 16 months of planning, waiting, anticipating, reading all of your questions and posts (daily), there is nothing left to do but watch the clock!
Once again, thank you to everyone on this site. You are a wonderful bunch of people and your insights and tips have made the planning stages so much more fun. 999ghosts....I am still wishing good things your way...you deserve them.
I will soon be able to add WL vet when I post!
Talk to you in 2 weeks!!!!

I hope your trip is everything you've dreamed. Sometimes the anticipation is as much fun as the trip (almost). Enjoy!:p

I'm sure this was talked about, but I couldn't find it. What floor is best to view the fireworks? I thought I read somewhere it was 6 and 7. I heard the balconies were open and not concrete. I thought the walls were shorter also. Can anyone help me out with this?

Liquidsky, I had a room on the 6th floor MK side and I couldn't see fireworks at all, the trees were too tall.

... for helping your friend Jennifer with the planning of her trip. Blessings Upon her & her family and you - she must be very thrilled to have you for support.

Just a simple thought about WL - don't know how she's feeling, but a day off at WL pool would be great maybe during their stay because at 3PM when we were there in August, they had pool games and duck races - something different each day. These lifeguard CM's were in the pool playing with crowds of kids for at least an hour. Bring those refillables down to the pool, and Mom can get a few minutes rest!

I hear the watermice are way cool - they are on our list for next time - and also - if you happen to be in a south wing room with pool/waterfall view, as we had, you can still just take a short walk down the boat dock path to see some of the MK fireworks - next best thing to being at MK!

OOPs! Got to get back to my trip report. Wishing a fabulous trip for all of your friends. What a nice family!

I did hear that also. Did you have a concrete balcony or wooden? Also was it tall? Just wondering so I know what floor to book a room on. Thanks.

Every time we stayed at the WL (first time was the year they opened!), we were always on the side where the snack bar is. There's an otter family that lives(still?) in the little pond and there was an owl in the trees, too!

Mousgroupy, I hope you have a wonderful time!!! :D

Liquidsky, We had a concrete balcony that was about chest high on me. I was disappointed with the room at first because we couldn't see any of the MK, BUT it ended up being quiet and peaceful. I'm not even sure if 7th floor conceirge will give you any better view.

Hello All,

999ghts hope all is well with you.

Just went out and bought new sneakers for our trip. I'll give them a 3 month break in period.

Getting excited.

Brother-in-law just returned and there were NO CROWDS, which is good because it was their first trip.

Can't wait to see the lodge all decked out for Christmas.:)

We stayed in room 5030 (open balcony) a few weeks ago. We could see the fireworks no problem unfortunately 4 yr old dd is afraid of them, she wouldn't even let me watch them, she made me close the curtains!!

We did just miss a view of the castle, I could see the room next to us (5032) had a view of it. We could see the monorail running to the CR and through the trees you could see the CR.

We were right over the otter pond which was neat, but no otters sited:( - but did hear them at night, they sure make an unusual noise, but very soothing.

I would ask for a room further down the hall next time because we were right off the elevators and there was a lot of noise during the afternoon and at night pretty late from people coming off the elevators and going to the ice machine/vending machine (yelling, shouting down the hall, crying, laughing, etc).

I did ask for this room area so I wasn't going to change it. Some people aren't bothered (like my dd:)) by the noise but I'm a terribly light sleeper so I would go for room 5010 or so next time:)- which would be a little quieter.

The WL is a beautiful and cozy place to stay!!

What floor were you staying on Gorechick? Also, what view did you have. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help jwfla422. What type of balcony did you have? Was it the concrete or open deck? I hate to be a pain, but we don't want a view of a concrete wall. Thanks for the help.

Greetings.....I have reservations for 2 rooms at WL for our 2 families. I'm new to this, and would appreciate some help with the following:

When a FAX is received at the Resort, how does it get matched with a specific reservation?
Do the "Room Assigner/Controller's" at the Resorts personally read the FAX's and try to match the requests with the reservations they receive from CRO?

My reason for asking is that I failed to make a specific request to CRO and I hope the FAX will be seen and matched to my Res#.

Thanks for providing a great service to us "Mouse Heads". ;-)
