Happy St. Patrick's Day?????? Did I miss something?? Anyway. We're going to WDW AND staying in WL!!!! Were booked at CBR but dh says, what the heck. Let's give it a try. So, my questions are: Since I'm not at all familiar with this resort, other than what I've read here, are there any rooms to be avoided? We'll be going with a woods view. But I don't want to be on top of a loading dock. So if I ask for a woods view on an upper floor on the otter pond side of the resort, would that be a good thing? I thought I was excited before. Now, I'm just over the moon so to speak. What a great hubby I have.

You should be safe with that request. Most of the "loading dock rooms" are standard view. The otter pond is closer to the lakeside. Also, when you check-in, they will show you where your room is located on the map, if your not happy with the location, change it then!

We have a deluxe room booked the first week of May with our 1 year old a 4 year. We really need the separate sleeping area as the kids won't go to sleep at the same time. Where are these rooms located and are they usually pretty quiet? We are all light sleepers. I was thinking of changing to two rooms with the new codes but will also need a fridge and don't want to risk not getting connecting rooms.

We stayed at WL in Dec. and early Feb. in Woodview rooms over the otter pond. We loved it! The rooms were very quiet and also have a view of Cindy's castle and the MK fireworks! My girls loved looking for the ducks everyday and we actually saw an otter one day. We had rooms 5018 and 5016. Hope this helps and enjoy the magic!

It says on the Disney website that all of the deluxe rooms have a woods view.

If it is just you and one other adult plus the children they will guarantee you connecting rooms if you book two rooms.

If there is a 3rd adult along then they don't guarantee the connecting rooms.

It may be worth it to check the price of 2 connecting rooms. I was told that thay also can apply this code to a deluxe room, which is what you have booked. You never know, you may be able to get 2 rooms in a better view category for what you are going to pay for one deluxe room.

That would be great if I could apply the code to the deluxe room. Who told you that? I was told yesterday on the phone by CRO it didn't apply to the deluxe. I will check again.

Jessica at CRO quoted me a price of $368 per nt for a deluxe room with AAA or DC-they both came out with the same rate. I was checking for October, which is the same season as what the current codes are for.

She said that you can use AAA, DC and sometimes there are AP discounts on Deluxes. I did not ask her about applying the current code because it is not for the time we are traveling.

Bottom line, there are some discounts available on deluxes-call back and ask them if you can apply the current code. If not, see what 2 rooms would cost you with a code-it might be cheaper than a deluxe and you could end up with a better view.

You can have a fridge in your room for $10/nt.

As I said above, they will guarantee the connecting rooms if it is just the 2 adults and however many number of children.

Have you checked what 2 rooms would cost you?

If you have your heart set on a deluxe room and they can't apply the current code do you have AAA, DC or AP's?

May I ask what rate you are paying right now for the deluxe room in May.

I consider the deluxe at WL to be a suite because it has the seperate sleeping area, which is nice. Price wise, it is a pretty good deal because you figure 1 br suite at AKL is $710 per night and it is pretty much the same set up as the deluxe at WL.

Okay, with the code and if there is availability-a woods view room is $164 and I think this includes tax-this is the view that all of the deluxes have.

So, you can get two of these rooms for $328. Is that rate cheaper than going with one deluxe? You can also get 2 courtyard view rooms for $400 and you never know, maybe you'll get upgraded to concierge.

I'm curious what you end up doing and how it works out for you.

Thanks VBfamily

I double checked. The current rate I have for the deluxe is the rack rate of $415. Your are exactly right about the rates for the woods view. (standard view is all gone with the code). I can save about $375 with two rooms for the five nights. My DH says just keep what we have and quite obsessing! LOL The deluxe room seems veyr nice and from what the front desk tells me at WL they are in a nice quiet location which is what is most important to us.....I don't care about the view. I just want a quiets night sleep. I am like a kids waiting for Christmas right now!!!

Are there any types of discounts you can use on that rack rate of $415? Do you have Disney Club or AAA (easy to get)?

I hate seeing someone pay rack rate when they don't have to.

Either one of these would at least save you about $55 per night.

....so tell me ~ how come you haven't added "WL Vet" to your siggie???!?!?!?!:D (cuz' you sure SOUND like one!! - BTW, welcome aboard!)

(LoveMickey ~ sorry to confuse you....I usually change my siggie for the next "holiday" about a month or so in advance. Last time I checked, it was still on March 17th:rolleyes: )

We just got a good code rate for WL (we're very excited!), and I have several questions about the Lodge:

1. Can anyone tell me more about the family recreation plan? I may not have that name just right, but it's the pay-one-rate-and-use-water-mice-and-bikes all week plan. Specifically, I'd like to know how much it costs per week and what hours the water mice are available. I think there might be two plans?

2. Are people still being offered a bump-up to concierge at check-in for something like $30 or $40 per night?

3. What hours is Roaring Forks open?

I'll probably have more questions tomorrow. Thanks, all!

Thanks vbfamily....

I checked on the AAA discount too....and was all ready to get another one. It doesn't apply to the deluxe room either. I give up. On our next trip when the kids are older we will only need a standard room so we will just turn our heads to the high prices this year! LOL

What hours is Roaring Forks open?

When you check in, you are given what is called "The Silver Creek Star."

It's a resort newsletter of sorts that gives you all the information you could possible want about the resort, pool hours, snack bar hours, how to arrange specialty cruises, where to buy stamps, etc.

Roaring Forks Snack Bar:

Breakfast 6am to 11am

Lunch/Dinner 11am to 12 midnight
(grill opens at 7am and closes at 11pm)

Loriwvu,

Sorry you weren't able to get the AAA discount. All I can say is-if you check periodically you might actually get it. I tried for October and was told no and then I called back 5 minutes later and was told yes.

My DH always tells me not to keep checking prices, etc. but I figure it couldn't hurt to call once in a while because sometimes you get told 5 different things by 5 different people.

Mrs. Pete:

I have heard they still offer the concierge upgrade sometimes. I would take it if it is offered. It is worth it if you get it for $30 or $40 dollars.

It never hurts to ask at chek-in if there are any upgrades available-some on this board said ask for any upgrades but don't use the word "free"-I guess they said CM's don't like that.

I think complimentary is a better term to use for free.

Worked for us in getting a better view!

WOOHOO!
Just booked my next trip "home" to WL!
We are going August 13-20, 2003 :)
We were thinking of AKL this trip, but we love th slide at WL plus being on the water for water mice rides. Maybe next trip (though it wont be for a long while) I guess we will just visit AKL!

We have been twice to WL (once Woodview, second time Courtyard View). Unfortunately due to financial concerns this time around we have chosen Standard view this time. I guess I really dont care if I overlook a parking lot, as long as I am WL. Hoping maybe it will be slow that time of year and we could get upgraded to Woods. Wishful thinking :)

Anyone else been during mid to late August?
So now how do I add a countdown clock to my signature? Anyone know?

....I don't know about those "countdown thingies", but you better get "WL VET" on your siggie pronto!!! Three times at WL and counting....whew!!!!
