Yes, I think WDW would be a great job :)

It will all work out! I promise.;)

Thanks cmmam,
I know it will work out. God always has a plan when these things happen. Perhaps it is because we had toyed with going at Christmas but decided not since the crowds are larger and hours are different. Maybe He is saying we DO need to go at Christmas.;)

There ya go, thats the spirit!

You seem to be quite the WL vet, so maybe you could answer a question??

We will be honeymooning from 2/17 to the 23rd.

We want a room with a king bed and are more concerned with noise levels than with views, although a view is always nice.

Do you have any suggestions for what area we should request??

Any ideas to share??

Thanks!

Congrats on the upcoming nuptials!!

The wife and I also took our Honeymoon there back in 1994 just after WL opened. Our room number was 1027. It is a first floor room just around the corner from Roaring Forks. It had a king size bed and a large walk in shower (nuff said ;)).

I don't remember there being a lot of noise there, but we were in Disney, not much time in room anyway. The nice thing about a first floor room is that you can walk out of your room through the "patio" and go to the pool and not have to walk through the other buildings in your bathing suit and carrying stuff. Enjoy yourself and again CONGRATS!!

Thanks ratpack!

Dont know how much swimming we will do in February, especially with all this cold, but hottubs are a definite possibility;)

To Ratpack........We have been in that situation in the past. I pray for you and your family that it is a short time and that there is something much better just around the corner for you. Know that we are thinking about you and sending our very best wishes for a speedy solution.

Thanks Lou-Ann,
Friendly support helps a lot in these situations. At least I have some time before the actual closing, I really feel for people that get no warning at all.

Hi all-
I can't believe I spent so much time reading every page of this thread. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to help answer many of my questions regarding WL. I got confused there for a bit when everyone was referring to 999ghts and there were no posts by that person, but I did read everything now! :)

I was wondering if anyone has recently experienced the WL concierge and could comment about their stay? We have never stayed in concierge and are considering it for the first part of our trip next January. We plan on spending lots of time at the resort and in MK after I participate in the WDW Marathon. I am wondering if the service you receive it worth it? I'm planning on getting an AP and then hope for a great rate per nite!

Any suggestions on room locations or room requests before I make my ressie?

TIA!

We stayed at WL Concierge in October. I have concluded that it is worth it if you get it at a special price-with a code or AP rate or a free or almost free upgrade.

It's very nice but not the nicest concierge at WDW. I think if you want to stay at WL and can get the concierge for not much more then go for it.

They had nice breakfast choices, snacks, 2 entrees at night, etc.

The CM's are nice, not overly enthusiastic though. It's nice to be able to relax and enjoy the different offerings each evening and little desserts.

We stayed there while my husband was doing the Great Floridian Triathlon and we used the concierge services, food, etc. a lot more than he did because he was gone so much.

If you know you are going to be able to take advantage of it I would do it.

If you want more specific info, feel free to ask.

vbfamily-
Thanks for the info. I have heard it is a more relaxed situation, especially since that hotel wasn't designed with a concierge lounge area. Relaxed is fine with us as we are more casual when we vacation at WDW.

We would probably have to pay about $75 more per night per concierge than the woodsview room that we would stay in otherwise. Would you pay that price for the service you received? Were the Conc CM's helpful (if you used them) for things like PS arrangements or anything else?

How did you like you room view? If it was a good one I'd be interested in the room number or area you were in-thanks!

Would you be willing to share what you paid for your room in Oct? I am *hoping* for the historically good prices that come with having an AP but since we are on a budget I have to make the most of things! :)

Thanks so much!

We were booked at a rate of $385 per night. When we checked in we didn't realize concierge rooms were on 7th floor-they put us on the 2nd floor in a courtyard view room-$280 per night and then they just added the concierge service on for @30 per night at an "upsell". We saved money off our original rate but we still paid too much-I wasn't aware of codes or anything at that time.

For us it was worth the $30 we were paying-family of 4-we ate way more than $30 of food each day in the lounge.

We stayed in 2151-courtyard view-we liked our room and they brought robes down to us and did turndown service-missed a couple of nights.

The CM's were so-so. They never called us or sent us anything ahead of time-which I have heard they are suppose to do. We did not have any PS's. They were friendly-certain ones were more attentive than others-there were a couple of gentleman who kept the food fully stocked and seemed to really care about what they were doing.

I would try for a courtyard view-they are nice. I have heard that the room up above the lobby are pretty noisy.

Let us know what kind of price you get. I would not pay full price for the WL Concierge.

They did arrange for a small cake to be delivered to our room to congratulate my husband on completing the Grand Floridian-I was talking to the CM at the concierge desk and mentioned that my husband was over in Clermont and we go there frequently because it's a great place for triathletes. Wrong thing to say-the CM wanted us to buy his condo in Clermont-I smiled and said I would pass along the info to my husband and thought that would be the end of it but every time I called up to the Conc. desk this guy would mention his condo.

Just bumping this back to the first page.

We are slipping, back in the summer,we never got off the first page but a few times. Now we are on Page 5!!!:(

wilderness lodge is a wonderful deluxe resort- great for kids

but stay away from the concierge until they get it fixed, not worth any amount of mula to upgrade to.

it was the first resort that we didnt feel like we were staying conc- we've stayed at 5 onsite and about 20 throughout the u.s.

you'll love the wl just by itself

...thanks for YHO, but what do you suggest needs to be "fixed"? I found the CM's to be very polite, helpful, and knowledgeable, and the assortment of "eats" available to be more than adequate. (of course, this is based upon the $30 upsell!! )

I have a courtyard view room booked for 8 nights. Let's say when I go to check in I am offered an upgrade to Conceirge for $30 per night. That works out to $7.50 per person for my family of 4. The bottom line is will I be able to get $7.50 per person's worth of food and drink per day.

What do you think? I am assuming that I will spend $30 on a quick breakfast type meal of breakfast pastries, fruit, juice, coffe etc. anyway. Would I be able to get a quick continental type of breakfast there and basically justify the upgrade.

Also, we have 2 non park days set aside where we will be spending a lot of the day in the Lodge. Seems like those days the snacks might help make it worth it too.

When I booked the room it definitely wasn't worth the price difference. But it seems like $30 per day in snacks would be pretty easy to do.

I already have all of the PS's we need including 2 CRT and 1 storybook breakfast so I can't see needing the conceirge for maore than the food part. Would it be worth it?

Also, I heard that the conceirge room balconies are solid and really interfere with the view. Is that the case? If so that may be a deal breaker.

It is worth the $30 upgrade. Because you would probably spend the $7.50 per person, per day for snacks, etc. like you said. The evening offerings are pretty good and you can always ask for soda, etc.

I think it is worth the $30 upgrade but not the full price. I don't know if the balconies are enclosed because even though we stayed concierge we did not want to stay that high up and requested a room on the 2nd floor at check in-we had the normal rate booked initially, checked in, told them we did not want floor 7(I did not know it was on that floor to begin with) and then they put us in a regular room and added on the $30 upgrade.

Even if you did have an enclosed balcony, I don't think it would be that bad. They kind of looked neat from the courtyard. I doubt they are bigger than the regular balconies but they did look like they were.

Hi All...
In answer to your questions about the concierge balconies, they are the same size as any other floor. However, they are enclosed, which means that they have a solid half wall instead of slats..The views vary by location, Fireworks, pool view etc..It all depends on taste..The bedding may be two queens, A queen and a set of bunks or a king with no bathtub just a roll in shower..
The food offerrings vary by day, The continental breakfast is standard, snacks and Hors d'oeuvres vary nightly..The wine and cordials are standard fare....
I have heard many positive and a few negative comments about concierge at the Lodge...They are all opinions

Have a Magical Day...

If you are sitting outside on the balcony can you see over the solid half of the balcony wall or do you have to be standing? What about when you are inside sitiing? I would hate to have a nice view and only be able to see it when standing.

....can you tell me if HumphreytheBear is still posting??? (if you want to, send me a pm...:) )

Hi All....If you are sitting on the balcony at the concierge level, you can not see over the half wall..Same goes for if you are sitting in your room....
As far as Humphrey the Bear, I have no clue as to who he/she is and not sure if he/she still works for the Lodge..

Have a Magical Day....
