New WDW Pet Hotel

When my family and I last visited WDW in Feb. '09 we boarded our two dogs at the Best Friends Kennel at Epcot. They informed us that a brand new Pet Resort was being built somewhere on the WDW property that it was supposed be a one of a kind facility that would give pets first class treatment. They said that it should be ready by Summer 2010.

Does anybody have any info about this?

Oh great! Thank you! If you ask me, and I have two little dogs, the one thing WDW has always lacked is a nice kennel for dogs or maybe a hotel that allows dogs!

I just wish that there were a pet friendly hotel on site. My little dog goes to day care at home and they also do boarding there. He goes on vacation at home when we go on vacation. I just can't see taking him and boarding him somewhere he is not familiar. But if they had a hotel where he could go to the pet care while we were in the parks then come "home" with us it would be worth bringing him! We miss our baby dog when we are out of town!

it looks really cool from outside. there are little doghouses as entrances to the dog runs.

When we were at WDW a little under 3 wks ago we drove past & it still looked like there was a good amount of construction activity still happening although the building exterior looked pretty much complete. It looked very whimsical & cheery, reminded me of the fire station on Buena Vista Drive by SSR, but DH & I thought it seemed like an odd choice for location with grand entrance of Royal Golden Oaks ( or whatever that million dollar plus community will be called ) just past it where Bonnet Creek Pkwy meets Vista Blvd.; entrances to Port Orleans Riverside & French Quarter and Oaks do blend well but pet care center just looks odd located in their vicinity.

Thanks for the update on the progress 5forDiz... I definately hear you Maggie, alot of our anxiety over boarding could be avoided if there was at least one hotel that was pet friendly.

Some of those rooms are more expensive than people hotels.
