Hi, I found this site by coincidence last night and im very impressed! Found it extremely helpful, especially coming from the UK where contact is limited when it comes to weddings in Disney!
We are getting married on the 1st of November 2006 at the Wedding Pavilion with a cake cutting/ champagne reception at the Grand Floridian.
Got a few questions and I wonder if anyone could help me out.

1) Looking for someone to do my hair and makeup and if anyone could recommend someone, I would appreciate it.

2) Could anyone recommend a hotel for our wedding night? Would like a hot tub/ Jacuzzi, ive seen a few of hotels that state they have '1 1/2 baths' does that mean a hot tub/ Jacuzzi? Bit confused there! Preferably under $500!

3) Not sure where to have our reception, looking to dine about 6pm but flexible. There are 9 adults and 8 children so would like something for everyone and I would like to keep our wedding attire on. Was thinking of Citricos but not sure about fussy eaters!

Thank you, Aimee x

Congratulations! That is a wonderful time for a wedding at Disney as crowds should be low.

Looks like youa re having an intimate wedding? Since your adult/child ratio is almost even, I (personally) wouldn't go for something extremely fancy or drawn out--unless the children are older or are used to have a two hour dinner.

We are having a vow renewal at Disney on May 1. There are 6 adults and 7 children in our group (4, 7, 10, 11, 13, 16 & 16). We are having a fun dinner at 1900 Park Fare for Cinderella's Gala Feast with Cinderella, Prince Charming, the FairyGodmother and Suzie & Perla, the mice. It is a buffet which has me a little concerned, but I figure my DH can get my food if it is too hard in my dress.

Another option would be O'Hana's at the Polynesian. It is served family style at the table and is also all you can eat. There are coconut races and hoola hoop contests for the kids during the meal.

I believe a few other brides are also doing Chef Mickey's for their "reception" dinner. That is also a buffet with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip/Dale & sometimes Donald Duck.

I have never eaten at Citrico's, but it is a beautiful restaurant. You can go to any resort restaurant in your wedding attire, just not into any of the parks.

Good luck with your planning!!

Welcome and Best Wishes on your upcoming wedding! You will find lots of helpful advise and really nice girls (and guys!) on here :goodvibes

Congratulations Aimee on your forthcoming Disney wedding and welcome to the DIS

I can help with a couple of the questions:

2) 1 and half bath usually means that the room has a separate toilet with hand basin. If you would like a jacuzzi room there are a couple of suites at The Yacht Club, or the Honeymoon room at Grand Floridian are just a couple that I know of. Or you could book a 1BR villa at any of the DVC resorts all of these have whirlpool baths in the master bedroom.

3) Citricos is a wonderful restaurant, I've eaten there a few times and love it. The menu is wonderful and there is a separate menu for children, I've noticed many servers here interacting really well with kids here. If you want to stay on a fine dining ambience with a less fussy menu I would recommend The Yachtsman Steakhouse, I'm from the UK also and we took our whole family here, including children, for dinner the night after our wedding and everyone loved it. Chef Mickey's and 'Ohanas are great fun and I do love them, we had 45 people at our Rehearsal Dinner/Welcome Party for 'Ohanas but if I was having an Intimate myself I would want something more "fine dining" but that's just my personal taste and not a criticism over anyone who chooses to have their wedding reception dinners there, it's horses for courses ;)

i had my intimate on the 21st november 2005, being from the UK too i had lots of questions but got all the answers from here beforehand so i knew what to expect.
a lady called tonya montoya did my hair and make up for the wedding and our MK photo shoot. i can email you her details if you want.
we had a party of 9 for our wedding and went to chef mickeys for dinner, we weren't hugely bothered about having a really posh dinner as my husbands family is scottich and like their food and lots of it!!! so decided to go for the all you can eat buffet at chef mickeys. we had a great time and were really spoilt by our servers and the characters!! (we couldnt justify the cost to have mickey and minnie at the reception so it was the next best thing!)
i had the same intimate wedding package as it sounds like you're having, so if you have any more questions or queries you want anwered, dont hesistate to PM me
hope this helps

We seem to be getting quite a few UK brides recently :teeth:

Im having Anna from Makeover Majic do my hair and makeup, she is really friendly and helpful! Her website is http://www.makeovermajic.com/ There are details of her prices aswell as pics of her work on there!

Im having a custom wedding so i really cant make a suggestion for the dinner reception but i have eaten several times the the yachtsman steakhouse and loved it! They also have a private area- think it only accomodates about 15people though (may be less).

hi
I am from the Uk too, and had my Disney wedding just a few days ago on March 1st.
I married at the Yacht Club followed my a reception at the American Adventure in Epcot, but I stayed at the Yacht Club and although never di eat at the Yachtsman, it looked lovely, and have heard many good reports about it.
We ate a few times at the Cape May Restaurant in the Beach Club resort next door, which was all you can eat buffet. It was fantastic.
We also ate at Ohana's over at the Polynesian resort. This was an all you can eat dinner, which again was fabulous.
Both places are nice, but not fussy, and ideal for children.

Lisa Pena did our hair and makeup her email is : weddingsbylisap@aol.com
She was great, and did a lovely job.
I will be posting some piccies on here as soon as I have them all ready.

Fell free to PM me any questions.

I highly recommend Lisa. She did DD's & my hair & make-up & did a beautiful job.
The private room at Yachtsman will hold 12people comfortably They pushed 4 tables together to form a square, instead of a long table. That way we could see eachotherPaul, the manager told me that if we had more than 12 people, he would not be able to seat us all at the same table. By the way, the food & service were excellent. He even made up personallized menus with their names & the date. He e-mailed me a copy of their current menu & DD simply crossed off the things she didn't want & sent it back to him. The menus he made had no prices so people could choose what they wanted without worring about the price.

Thanks everyone for your help, found it really useful. I am having an intimate wedding.
I was thinking about the 1900 Park Fare but after talking to family I don’t think a buffet would be suitable for the same reasons - my dress is huge and there is no way id get anywhere near the counter! I like the idea of having the characters there though - nice touch for the children - I can’t justify spending $700 on one character for 30 minutes!
I am still trying to find somewhere for the wedding night though, the only hotel I seen on the Disney world website that states having a Jacuzzi is the Grand Floridian which I love but there is no way on this earth that i am paying $670 for one night! I am willing to pay about $400 which I think is fair but at the moment it looks like we are spending our wedding night with our children!
I am 95% sure that we will have food at citricos now; main reason is that we won’t have to move from place to place. It looks lovely and is reasonably priced. They sound very accommodating at the Yachtsman, like how you can build your own menu ... hmm, very tempting!
I have been trying to get hold of Tonya but have had no luck as of yet but i have got a few ideas now, so thank you to everyone, i have emailed Lisa, just waiting for a reply.
I am getting there slowly ... thanks again :teeth:

I just got married last week at the Yacht Club and had Minnie & Mickey come to the wedding. It was always in my budget, and although they cost a lot of money I have to say they were worth every single penny.
My pictures are fabulous, especially the ones with the mice. The children's faces lit up when they saw them, and of course they have them exclusively for half an hour. No queuing up to see them !!
I am so glad I chose to have them share it with us.

Someone (Sam I believe) mentioned checking into a 1 bedroom at one of the DVC resorts (Old Key West, Boardwalk, Beach Club, Wilderness Lodge or Sarasota Springs). These rooms will have a master bedroom with a bath that has a jacuzzi tub. You can reserve them through the regular Disney Reservations department (I think) or check on the Vacation Club board (click on the drop down list of forums and see Vacation Club/Rent Points) about renting points from a member. Renting points is a very cost effective way to get a VERY nice room!

Yup you can indeed book these one-bedroom villas which have beautiful master suites through the regular Disney website or use a Disney Travel Specialist if you want to.

My recommendations would be Beach Club Villas, Boardwalk Villas, Wilderness Lodge or the New Saratoga Springs - my friend just stayed in the one-bedroom at Saratoga and it was lovely and all new and shiny, I loved it. But I also like the Boardwalk too for location oh and Beach Club for Stormalong Bay and Wilderness Lodge for the woods and romance feel.

OKW is lovely too but just a little "dated" in my personal opinion.

PM me if you need more details :)

Does anyone know how much the 1 bed suites are at the Yacht or beach club? im going to be staying at one for 2 weeks for my wedding in December?

The allearsnet.com site should have that information! I will say though, you might check into the DVC rooms too. They can be very, very reasonable and are also in great locations.

:cool1: :thumbsup2 :cloud9: hey Congrats on your wedding.........Nov.1 is a great day to get married did you know it's All Saints Day? I know because 20 years ago this Nov.1 ,I was married............. :cloud9: :cloud9:

I am not up to date with this renting points thing, I don’t quite understand, is it like a timeshare? I would be grateful if anyone could give me some info on this. Thanks for your help, I have found a few lovely suites at reasonable prices but i am very curious about this renting points.
This is really embarrassing, I should be more clued up; I didn’t know it was All Saints Day but even worse I don’t know what it means ... well not unless I ran a search on Google! :teeth:
Congrats to we3disneygo on your forthcoming anniversary, 20 years! I look forward to many happy years with my other half, i am very soppy!

Cinderella2006 - you wouldn't have to rent points for a DVC room booking you can book it direct with Disney or through a Disney Travel Specialist Comany e.g. Dreams Unlimited Travel who are one of the sponsors of the DIS. Of course if you want to rent the points you can but if you find it complicated Disney do open these rooms up for the usual booking process, it's a breeze I promise and if you need more advice on this by all means send me a private message or email.

I don't think we typically celebrate All Saints Day here in the UK but I believe it's something to do with warding off the Ghouls and ghosts from the night before - OK that may not be totally right but I know that there is some sort of correlation between Halloween and All Saints Day, don't feel bad Cinderella2006 about not knowing about this, I'm sure a lot of our fellow DISers from across the pond don't know about some of our UK "holidays" :teeth:

All Saint's Day is a celebration of the Saint's and kind of a reminder that we should strive to be like them. Halloween is actually the night for scaring away ghosts and goblins, and the night before Halloween (Oct 30th) is sometimes called mischeif night, and people will often find their houses covered in toilet paper when they wake up the morning of Halloween.

Cinderella 2006 - you might also want to check out a Garden Suite at the Boardwalk Resort. It is on Concierge level, as the GF, but not quite as expensive. Each suite is 2 story - a living room, small kitchenette, and a 1/2 bath downstairs - and a king bed and an AMAZING bathroom upstairs. The main bath has a jacuzzi big enough for 3 adults, and a shower that you could play a basketball game in.

There are only 15 of these rooms, each have private gardens and a picket fence at the entrace. Rooms 1201 - 1204 and 1208-1215 are a loft 2 story, and 1205-1207 have their own private balcony. I would suggest one of these, the balcony can be so romantic.

I know they can be a little cheaper if you have AAA or an AP.....

Hope this helps! And, Congratulations!!! :wave2:
