Hello Fellow Walkers...
Couldn't do my walk last night, LTO. Had a podiatrist appt to check two toenails (3half marathons in a 7 week stretch did them in.) Then had to pick up the dog from the vets, she was there all day for tests.
I had a massage this morning:) . The guy, Jody, (who is also a physical therapist) told me my issue is that my left hip is "open" and my left foot "supinates" or heavy on the heal and outside of the foot, so my knee is taking a pounding as a result. He suggested professional orthotics, which I had made after bouts with plantar faciitus. I will get them recovered, it's been a year. He said to try a knee brace to help stabilize the knee better. Also he said I need to stretch more - at least 30 minutes!!!!!
I had my racewalking lession rescheduled from tomorrow to today at 4pm in Boca Raton. Weather tomorrow is looking bad, so I wanted to make sure I get it done. I will let you know how it goes.
Anybody have suggestion for a knee brace that isn't too bulky and one that won't fall off while you sweat?

Wishing you much pixiedust: in all you are dealing with.

Tracy, I hope your racewalking is better with your brace and your orthotics. I can't wait to compare notes with you when we get to do a race together.

Maria, we love you to sweet princess, you are such a joy to have around.

Robert lots of thoughts of strength coming your way for your surgery next week. My the knees come back stronger than before. Dude, we have a sub 5 hour walk marathon in us. How about the 2010?

Kim it's wonderfull having you back we missed your sassy witty personality so much.

Jeanne and Nancy I sure hope we can get that ToT pace relaxed for Norm and for Lily's Ted.

Everyone have a wonderfull Easter weekend.

I had my racewalking lesson yesterday with Bonnie Stein (www.acewalker.com). She was very surprised at how much I had learned on my own. She said I had a good foot roll and my posture was great. I need arm work, example to use the shoulder as a pendulum and more backward movement less forward - to get the sling shot motion, also keep arm movement more forward and back not to the sides, I think about being in a skinny hallway. There is a definate improvement when doing it properly and speed gets easier. With the different arm motion I am also getting a good tricep workout!
I also worked on hip motion, which will help me with speed, once I can get all that going at once I will be flying!! (hopefully, ugh.)

I was telling her about the WISH group. She told me she wants me to write alittle something about it and my experience with it to put in her biweekly racewalking newletter :yay: . I would love someone to email me the history of WISH, like how and when it got started and anything else they could add and then I will add my experiences to it.

That would be cool to take a real racewalking lesson. I have had some other walkers take me under wing and teach me some things. But never had a real lesson. Erica and I have thought about taking the week long racewalking camp that Dave McGovern puts on there in Orlando.

Hope everyone had a great Easter and didn't over dose on chocolate.

Great that you had instruction.

Robert, good luck with the upcoming surgery. WISHing this one does the trick!

Lily I just read that History of the WISH again that you have linked. That is so cool. Do you have a list of the pretty princesses who started the Team?

It would be fun to know who they are, as they are truely the WISH Royalty.

Thanks:hug:

I am a little worried as the surgey will be 2 1/2 hrs compared to the 45 min in Jan. I might have to stay overnight as well. I get my CPM unit(machine) on Weds that I will have to be hooked to for 6-8 hrs a day for the next month. I hope Linda can move it so I can go to our CA condo.

I hope to be at DL 1/2 if surgery goes well. Dr said I will be completely healed:) Wish you wou;d come out for that "Disney Double" medal:thumbsup2

Robert: sending you pixie dust in hopes that all goes well tomorrow. I will remember to keep you uppermost in my thoughts and prayers.

Robert--- Good luck with your surgery. I hope all goes well.

I just don't seem to have time to post much anymore. However, I have been keeping up my exercising. I also have finalized my room arrangements for our Oct trip. The first part of the trip we are at OKW but will be switching over to BWV on Friday so can hang out with everyone over the ToT weekend.

Take care everyone.

Nancy

Hospital just called to go over pre op. I found I WILL be staying overnight:( I will have to be at hospital at 6:30 am and surgery at 7:30. Surgery for 3 hrs and get to recovery by 11 am. At 12:30 head to my room where I will stay until noon on Fri :sad2: I have been to thrilled about this and it only gets better. We have to pack the CPM to the hospital and Linda has to pack it home(as well as me). Her life sucks! They just dlivered the CPM and looks like lots of fun but it is smaller than we thought so should be easier for her to hual around.

I the good side, they will give me better drugs for pain than the Jan surgery Don't expect to here much from me from Thurs to Sat-Sun. I know my posts will be funny. When I was on major pain meds from Achilles surgery I worked from home and my coworkers laughed at what I sent them :rolleyes1

Praying all goes well for you, strength & patience for Linda, and wisdom for the doctors! :flower3:

Robert, Best wishes and good thoughts coming your way for your surgery. A little pixie dustpixiedust: thrown in.

Up late getting ready to go to bed and wanted to thank everyone one again. Will try to get Linda to sneak in my laptop either tomorrow or Fri:rolleyes1
