Sweet Panda, you are waaaaaay too fast to ever see ME passing you!! We will not be at ToT as we have other events in other states to complete! Didn't you know that I was a bling snob? princess: Once I have the medal, I don't do the race again, unless they change the medal. :lmao: Minnie will be my exception. We did the inaugural, then they changed the medal, so we did the next year. Now, it's the last one...sooo we're doing it to have a complete set! :goodvibes

Well, Darlin, they have to change the ToT medal because it the 13K only the last medal had 6.5K on it. So now you have to come. Erica is a bling babe also. I get a free pair of glasses every year at work and she has picked out $1200 dollars worth of bright red ones with diamond star bursts on the sides. She will have the sharpest pair of readers around.

Anne you will be running and I'll still just be walking so you will be leaving me in the dust.

Happy Panda:hippie:

Anne you will be running
:lmao::rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:
You MIGHT see this body running, if it ever loses 50 pounds. Until that time, I'll stick to my walking...thank youverymuch!! Also, dear Panda, I could never run as fast as you and Erica walk! And that's the truth!!

I had to get up and go look at my medal... But, sorry, unless the DESIGN changes, I ain't paying that kind of money to do ToT again. Besides, MY FALL IS FULL!!! :cutie:

Hey walkers where is everyone!!!!!!!

Just got back from a 4k.

Hope you all are having a great weekend

Kim

Hey walkers! It's me, do any of you remember me??? :lmao: I have been so busy and it will only get worse over the next few weeks. Katwalks and I are doing the OKC Memorial Half Marathon at the end of April and we have our hardest training weeks just ahead of us. I also have grandchild obligations coming at me. The end of the school year is filled with stuff to do. I am making matching prarie dresses complete with aprons and bonnets so my oldest granddauther and I can go to the one room school house for the day. I am planning to take along a dime novel. :lmao: A couple days after that exciting event, I am accompanying my grandson on his field trip to the zoo, and then the next day Kathy will be here and we are headed to Oklahoma City for fun, shopping, and good times! Oh yea, there will be that half marathon in there too.

In the meantime, I am still working to lose these pesky pounds, stay out of the doctor's office, continue to Captain Hakuna Matata, and all the pesky things one must do in order to live an orderly life. *sigh* I don't care for the pesky stuff.

Today I did an easy 2 miler. The first after my doctor's appointment to put my hip back where it belongs. Did some stretching and feeling great!

Y'all have a great weekend~Connie

Of course we remember you dear. We also thank you for all the stuff you do to make the teams a success, you not only captain the Hakuna Matata but you help a lot of the other.

You will do super in the upcoming half marathon. Hug Kathy for us.

Hey, Connie, great to hear from you again. (Would someone please give Bill a kick in the butt from me!) :rotfl:

Hi Everyone!

Ok, I know I'm super far behind. I'm just going to jump in where we are!

I did something for the first time yesterday -- I got off the stationary bike and then ran for 20 minutes. It was hard 'cause my legs were tired from my 40 minutes of pedalling, but I really wanted an hour-long workout and I couldn't face any more time on the bike (ok, face isn't the right part of my anatomy, but you get the drift). I was so surprised that after I was finished I seemed to have even more energy, and I can still walk today, so I guess I have a new workout plan. :goodvibes

Jeanne, Connie, Bill, Dave, Anne, Ducky, Kim, I didn't forget you! Forgive me for being so absent. Work was nuts, but now I can be online a little more.

I hope everyone has a great walking day!
Maria

Hi Maria how are you?????? Haven't chatted with you for so long.

Hi Connie.....seems like alot of people where away this weekend.....not me still trying to get unpacked from 2 weeks ago:confused3

Hope you all ahve a great day

Kim

Hey Wish Walkers...

I was around this weekend, just doing training and I kinda posted on the running/walker weekly thread because of being busy.
I did 3 miles on Saturday and 6 miles on Sunday. Did a pretty good pace both days and am still around the 14:20/14:30 pace during training. I know I can probably do better during the actual event. I train by myself, so when I get around other people and the adrenaline kicks in I am faster.

Today is a rest day for me, so I am off to watch Dancing with the Stars!! (Go Kristy and Jason)

Wow Tracy. You are doing really well with your training! I'm not doing so well. I think I walk really fast, also keep my arms bent at the elbow, but last night, I did a walk that took me 43 minutes. Then, I took out my car (putting the trip meter at zero) and drove the entire walk. It was only 2.3 miles, which is over 18 minutes per mile! I'm no where near the 15 minute per mile pace that I need for the 15K on May 4th! I'm very short (5'), so I already have a very small stride (take small steps). Not sure what to do. Tonight, I'm going to take a short walk, but concentrate more on speed. Eventually, I may have to jog every so often. I'm not giving up though.

Keep training, you'll get the speed you need. It sounds like you're doing some good training, and it all helps. I know that I sometimes forget to factor in that I walk my first 5 minutes slow to warm up and that makes my total pace a little slow. Keep up the good work.:goodvibes

Good Afternoon, Walkers!

Ok, so I took a nice walk at lunch today. Not for speed, just to get out since it's finally 60 degrees. Windy as all get out, but I didn't care! Tonight I'll do my training walk on the TM. I'm hoping for good weather this weekend so I can be outside to train.

All the training does help, and it does make a difference -- and I find that when I do a long walk, it really helps me mentally. If I've done 6, I can do 8! :goodvibes

Kim -- I'm doing great! I've been getting all my workouts in, and doing WW Online. I lost 3 lbs. last week, and there's nowhere to go but down! I had a hard time a few weeks ago, just couldn't get motivated. For some reason the day after Easter it all clicked for me again. Thank goodness! :woohoo: I even bought a new scale, so I must be serious :rotfl:

Ok, everyone have a great walking day!
Maria :thumbsup2

Hi guys:flower3:

Maria, sounds like you are really go to do great. I love to get out and walk on a sunny windy day, makes you feel so alive and part of nature not just a spectator.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Hey you guys...

SuperDebbie, hang in there. You are doing great and just keep at it and it will come. How big your stride is doesn't really matter, it has to be comfortable for you. Keep your arms at about a 85-90 degree angle. Keep elbows kinda close to your body like you are walking in a skinny hallway. Keep hands in a relaxed fist and wrists not limp or hanging down. Motion of the arm comes from the shoulder like a pendulum, the back part of the swing the hand should be just past the hip and just below the waist area (you'll get a good tricep workout) and then let the arm swing forward. Most of the action should be towards the back and not the front. Let the arm have a slingshot type of feel the backward motion is like a bow and arrow when you pull it back. Also make sure that the shoulders are relaxed and not raising up - this will then make your neck/shoulder area get sore. I hope that some of this helps.

I also agree that speed comes with time, I warmup for a bit and then even my first mile is kinda slow then I speed up after that.

Keep up the good work eveyone, Walkers are Wonderful!!!:cheer2:

Thanks for the walking tips Tracy. I work for County government and our Wellness Coordinator gave me a Training Program yesterday. It's different each day. Yesterday, I had to take a 60 minute walk. Tonight I have to do a 30 minute Interval walk (every so often I have to speed up and then back to normal speed). Saturdays are a bugger. This Saturday I have to walk 3 miles (which is fine); the following Saturday 5 miles; the following Saturday 7 miles; and then the next Saturday (a week before Minnie Marathon weekend), I have to walk 9 miles. I'm excited about having a training program to follow. Last night, it was raining through half my walk. That's kind of a hassle, but I don't really care! I'm determined!

Maria , glad to hear you are doing so great!!!! I think there was a few of us who fell off the bandwagon over the last few weeks but we are all going forward!!!!

I joinned weightwatchers last night as well, I am doing the flex plan I need structure so I thought it would be the best plan for me. I am allowed 23 points and my breaky was 5.5 so I think I am off to a good start.

Maria, are you doing ToT and Marathon weekend???? We are still up in the air but looks like we will be going both weeks but probably not doing ToT, still haven't decided I think the fee they are asking is a bit much when I can spend that money at F&W which we love and have missed 2 years in a row.

How is everyone else doing today????

Kim

I bought new running shoes (I'm a walker). I had to order them online because I have such a fat shoes. They are Brooks Adrenaline GTS 8's. My width is 2E!! I'm wearing them right now and they feel so comfortable (bought them in 1/2 size bigger than my normal size as recommended). But, it's POURING rain here in SW Florida. Hope it clears later. I need to do my training! I need to get my speed up. I think I may need to learn karate real quick so that if they try to "sweep" me, I can give them a Hi-Ya (karate chop)!!!

You will do fine Debbie, the excitement of the race day will give you extra energy and you will do just fine.

We have openings on several of the hours/miles posting teams if you would like to be on one.

I'm working a 12 hour shift today so my workout will be just some stretching before I go. Tomorrow I don't have to go in till late so I can make up for it with a good work out then.

Have a super day y'all.
