Just as an FYI for those who didn't already know. The wait list policy changed as of today 9/4/07. MS will no longer call to inform you that your waitlist is available. The system is now automated such that once a match comes up, you are automatically booked and will receive confirmation via the usual snail mail letter. If you request a wait list with multiple resorts then the first one that come available from your list is the one you get and you are removed from the wait list for the remaining resorts.

I've got mixed feelings about this just because I liked having the option of declining a wait list when it became available in case my plans changed. The MS rep I spoke to said that is the very reason the new policy was put in place. She said the call backs were taking too much time away from answering the normal reservation calls.

The wait list policy changed some time in June, I believe, possibly June 1st? Here is some info from the members' website:

New Policies Streamline Bookings
In order to better serve Members, Disney Vacation Club has announced streamlined booking processes for Interval International® exchanges and Disney Vacation Club Resort waitlist requests.

Effective July 1, 2007, Interval International will automatically confirm matches based on a Member's search request. Once confirmed, the Member will receive written confirmation of that booking, and all other searches attached to that request will be cancelled. Standard cancellation policies will then apply for the confirmed reservation.

The waitlist process for Disney Vacation Club Resorts has undergone a similar move to automatic confirmations, effective immediately. Once a Member makes a waitlist request, Member Services will initiate a search that will remain active until 31 days prior to the desired check-in date. Upon finding a match, Member Services will automatically confirm the reservation, notifying Members in writing and canceling all other waitlist requests or previously reserved accommodations for those dates.

It's important to note that, since Member Services confirms these reservations without contacting Members when a match is found, Members should make waitlist requests for desired accommodations only. Members may cancel unconfirmed waitlist requests at any time by calling Member Services.

That's interesting, the MS rep was the one who told me it took effect today.

We made a reservation about a month ago, and waitlisted OKW. The following week I checked my points online, and found the reservation had already moved to OKW, with no notification from MS. So it's been in effect for at least a month.

1) I like the system revision.
2) Too many people made too many waitlists.
3) They could be on 2-3 resorts at the same time.
4) This is just a waste of time to try to keep straight.
5) They should be able to waitlist their one choice and get on with business.
6) Now they will have to do so.
7) Trying to contact people 2-5 times to confirm is a waste of OUR dues.

NOTE: Can you see those who like to put themselves on 2-3 resort waitlists? Their days might come through and have them being transferred to a totally different DVC resort every night of the trip.

Not a change to me as that is how my last waitlist worked last spring. I noticed it came through online and then a few days later the letter came.
