new vs old pal mickey

Does anyone know if we will be able to use the pal mickey we bought in 2003 when we go in December of this year? I don't want to bring it if it won't work.

I would like to get one of these for my niece. I am going to WDW with my sister and her family. 9 of us total. We are all first timers!! FUN!! Do you know approx how much pal mickey is? She is 7 and would love it!!

He was $60 when I was there a few months ago. I personally think that is too much for him.

The old one will work- the new one is just updated/has more features/is wearing a diffrent outfit.

I sold my old Pal Mickey for $50 on eBay and I'm going to buy the new one in May. If you show your AP when you buy him, certain stores a giving you a free t-shirt for him to wear.

Does the new Pal Mickey have a strap or anything?? The old one has the clip on the back but we did not find that very convenient. We put a drink strap around his neck to carry him, but we all felt odd about it- it was like hanging poor Mickey.

Keep checking the Disney Character outlets in Florida. If you do a search on here you can find the phone numbers. Not long ago they were selling Pal Mickeys for $28.00 plus shipping. As it gets closer to May and the new Pal Mickeys coming out, I'll bet they'll get more of the old ones in. We bought two and took them down with us last month. We LOVED them.

Does the new Pal Mickey have a strap or anything?? The old one has the clip on the back but we did not find that very convenient. We put a drink strap around his neck to carry him, but we all felt odd about it- it was like hanging poor Mickey.

I've heard of people using those metal clip things (you can get them in the camping dept. of walmart, they look like the clips people use for rock climbing) to hold him better.

We used one of the clip on type lanyards from the dollar store. Just clipped it to the little tab that the belt clip hooks to. It worked great and didn't look like we were "hanging" Mickey.

Actually now that I think about it, the clip might be different on the new one b/c the new one is wearing a jacket.

You said plus shipping, so I'm assuming theres a website? Do you have it? I really wanted to get a pal mickey for our trip, but we are going May 1-5 (leaving early on the fifth) and I can't justify spending $60 on something that will be obsolite (sp?) the next day If we could get it cheaper, I might just do it! Thanks!

No, there's no website just a phone number. Disney has a few outlets in southern Florida where they send merchandise they won't be selling any longer in the parks (from what I understand). Back in December, they were getting in shipments of the Pal Mickey, I guess getting rid of them to make room for the new version. Someone posted on here and they flew off the shelves. I kept calling back every Tuesday even after they had sold out and finally caught them in stock.
The number is 954-846-7161 and they were $27.99 plus $10.99 shipping but you only paid one shipping charge even if you order more than one. Do a search on the DIS for "Pal Mickey's cost" and read the thread and it will list the numbers for the other locations. I only have the main one, but I'd suggest calling all of them.
I'm thinking with the new ones coming out soon, they'll be liquidating more of the old ones (which still work perfectly, by the way).

Yes, the new Pal Mickey has a yellow lanyard. We were in the parks March 2-12, and towards the last of the trip we started seeing the yellow lanyarads. We had the batteries for our old Pal Mickey (bought via the outlet by mail for our Dec 2004 trip) replaced and the nice CM told us to look for the new yellow lanyard and said that they would give us one for our older Pal Mickey. We stopped by the main Pal Mickey shop on Main Street at MK and were able to pick one up for no charge. The CM was just a little reluctant to do so at first, but I told them that another CM had said they would give us one. Prior to this, we also used the water bottle strap around his neck.
