Has anyone seen the new Virgin Atlantic advert??

It shows Jersey Girl :lovestruc at the end, we flew on her to Orlando in Oct. Great to see that out of all the planes they use, that its an Orlando bound plane they promote:woohoo:

It always gets me very happy when i see it:thumbsup2, roll on May:goodvibes

Maybe it is me, but although I think the advert is funny as a loyal customer of Virgin's over many many years (20 of their 25 years) I think the advert sums up what is wrong with Virgin these days.

Advert focuses on girl stewardesses and how people react to their looks and style of dress (short tight skirts). People wanting to change who they fly with based on the looks of the stewardesses.

As recent events showed with the facebook comments with some of their newer staff what we as customers really want is good service and experienced staff who do not look down their noses at us.

I would have preferred their advert to show the advances they had made since flying for 25 years. Inside of plane, in flight entertainment, food and comfort. I think it could have been funny seeing differences in these over 25 years.

Seems to me that Virgin should focus on staff recruitment for service attitude as opposed to youth and looks and uniform should be practical for stewardesses jobs. Have you seen them trying to bend down ladylike when trying to serve food and drinks from trolley. I feel really sorry for them in those tight skirts and high heels.

having gone through virgin recruitment its very tough. Its so hard to get through their training, fail one exam and your out!

I would say the facebook thing was a one off and only represents a small amount of staff.

Having worked at their head office I know that its not all about young girls, a majority of the crew that I saw were I would say in their late 20's and older.

I love the advert as entertainment - although I don't know whether it works as an advert to encourage people to buy the Virgin brand.

Personally, I'm quite happy to see cabin crew who clearly haven't been recruited for their looks ;) and I have felt that this has become more evident in recent years. Primarily, as a passenger, I want to feel I'm in the hands of someone with the knowledge and skills to keep passengers safe and comfortable.

That's not to say that I assume anyone who looks good can't also do a good job at ensuring passenger safety - there are, undoubtedly, many who can tick both boxes! I'm sure the crew recruitment process is a tough one and, although it's not the worst job in the world, it probably isn't always as wonderful as it's portrayed.

We re frequent flyers with Virgin too, i would nt fly with anyone else:thumbsup2 . I personally love the advert:love: , always puts a smile on my face when it comes on. Although the cabin crew never look as glam on the planes as they do on the advert. I think the ad shows how much the Virgin crew stand out in comparison to the other airlines, i personally dont find it portrays any negative message. A few years a go i wanted to work as a member of Cabin Crew & applied to Virgin,i loved the fact that they had a more glamorous image than other airlines. When you see Virgin staff walk through an airport they truely do stand out due to their uniforms, granted they re usually not as glam as the ad portrays but still they do stand out in a crowd.

I love it too! Also a keen VA customer and don't really feel a negative vibe from the ad. I love that my best friend's daughter features in it; that the day they started flying was my 21st birthday and I always enjoy hearing a bit of Frankie... :thumbsup2 Trying to find a way of flying on June 22nd to celebrate my 46th and their 25th... ;) :goodvibes

Big thumbs up from our house :thumbsup2 Makes me want to hunt out a "Frankie Says" Tee and nick me daughters hairspray (hair now there was the days).

Whichever agency crafted that beauty together. Geniuses. Makes me want to punch the air everytime I see it. Just wish the funds would stretch to punching the credit card into virgins site..

I love the advert ~ just the boost needed in these dreary January days. :goodvibes

I also like how they focus on the stewardesses and not the overseas call centre staff - you could never call them "red hot" :sad2:

Yes love the advert takes me back to those days, 'our price' when I used to go in and buy my LP's 7inch frankie goes to hollywood and wham days, and the 80's hair do's:rotfl: :cool1:
