I just had to replace (not by choice but by necessity) my Sony DSC-H2. I was at the Hyatt Orlando International when I was snapping some pics and realized that the auto focus would not work. After working with it for about an hour and being extremely annoyed by the now extreme shutter lag, I decided that I wasn't going to be able to stand having this for my Disney Cruise camera. So I went down to the airport concourse to see what I could find. I ended up with a Panasonic DMC-TZ3. At first I was a little disappointed because I felt like I downgraded significantly. After using it for a bit I was very pleased and realized that this isn’t a bad little camera at all.
For those that don’t know, the TZ3 is a “superzoom” camera with 10X optical zoom. Where Panasonic’s superzoom TZ cameras are different than the competitors are that they are very small. Not quite pocketable, however. Here is what it looks like:
So anyway, yesterday I snapped a few pics in the backyard mainly to do some practice / experimenting with the 10X zoom. I was very pleased with the results. Here are the images. No PP, straight OOC except resizing for photobucket and cropping to 800 x 600 (100%) to show detail, shown below the original.
With a couple minor annoyances aside, I would highly recommend this camera for anyone wanting to delve into the superzoom point & shoot arena without getting into the full-size DSLR-like-superzooms, that seem to be the standard.
As a side note, if anyone is interested, I’d be happy to do an abbreviated review of the plusses and minuses of this fun little camera…
