New TTC Thread

I was just sitting here being a Debbie Downer, feeling sorry for myself. :sad2: I tried to post a few minutes ago but got kicked off and lost it all. I hope it works this time.

I so want to have another baby.

The DIS is always good for distraction. I've seen this TTC thread before but avoided it because I didn't think there would be anyone on here that new much about fertility treatements. :confused3 Most people on other baby boards don't anyway.

I don't know why, but today I decided to click on this thread and just skip to the last page...and here is esbrick's schedule right infront of me. Almost the exact same schedule I had 2 years ago. But we started in January...lol.

The only problem we had is my body didn't respond to BCP so we had to do another round of those. Other than that, it went like clock work. They harvested 25 eggs:scared1:. Out of the 25 eggs, 19 were viable. 11 of those took fertilation. 6 grew and became embryos. We implanted 2 and DD was born November 2, 2008:cloud9:

Just wanted to tell you that sometimes it does work on the first try.

I'm sitting here wishing we could have another one. For now we just have to pinch our pennies until we can do our next round. We still have 4 embryos frozen at the labs.

Afternoon My Ladies! Love reading all the updates!

Cheri ~ How many days left?

We went to the IVF education appointment yesterday and it was enlightening, realistic and scarey at the same time. Mike was very impressed that we met the whole team that will be working with us and my favorite part was getting the schedule;) I love a plan you know:laughing: We are going to keep our reservation to go to Disney at the end of May which was a relief. The RN and Mike thought it was important to have one last "horaah" before we got into this serious business. It seems like it takes longer then I thought it would but I guess it is working along a normal time line so here it is:

BCPs until May 31st

Base Line Ultrasound June 1

Start Gonal-F June 4th for 8-13 days (2 shots a day, AM / PM)

Start Ganireliz Acetate injections (We will be told when to do this)

Ovidrel (Will be told)

Egg Retrieval Anytime between June 13th and June 18th

Progesterone starts the day of the egg retreival and goes on until RE tells me to stop

Embryo Transfer between June 16th and June 21

Pregnancy Blood Test 14 days from Retreival Day (Useless to take a HPT since the Progesterone masks the true findings and it would be terrible to think you were preg if you are not, been there done that!)

They also said that it would be 2 days out of work, Retreval day and insemination day. Believe it or not the being ooo on insemination day is mostly psychological. No matter how much we know in our minds that the reason we didn't get pregnant after insemination wasn't because we went back to work or food shopping we have a tendency to blame ourselves so the caution you not to chance it:)

They warned that the Gonal-F shots are the "crazy" :crazy2: shots and told Mike that if we had an argument over something silly just to remember everthing is hightened during this time and the best course of action is to not argue the point but nod, agree and suck it up. It will be over after the retreival for the most part. I was honest and said that I had a short wick sometimes but that my bark is worse then my bite;) Funny thing was that when I was on the Clomid some days I was really calm and my awareness of my actions was hightened so I was actually overly nice because I was afraid of being a crazy B***h!

The psychologist was very realistic on time lines and expectations as well. She said that the "first" IVF process is always the hardest and is also the one that most often doesn't work. With the second and third ones they have higher success rates becasue they know more about your body so they are better able to change drug doses ect. Pretty much makes sence when you think about it.:)

I checked with insurance this am and my drugs are covered so that is good. I just need to let the RN know when to process them. I am going to do that either next week or the week after so I have cash in the bank to cover as it's still ALOT of money.

We're good to go for this trip but looks like we may have to reschedule our March cruise (body pretzeled and stuff) cause either I would be pregnant and in the last tri mester or baby would be to new born. Oh well Easter in 2012 is April 8th so maybe we can do it then or when Meg gets out of school in 2011. Again, this is God willing assuming this is even an issue:upsidedow

Sorry so long but good to see it typed out all the same. I'm going to make our reservations for dinner at Emerils at teh "Dark Side" during our trip. I'm still weighing the reality of doing the dining plan and if it really is a benefit to us.:confused3

Thanks ladies!

I am SO stinkin excited for you!!!!

I love that you have a plan now. It must feel great! AND that you get to go to Disney!!!! (AND bonus: Knowing you won't have AF during your trip!)

So when do you start the BCP...today?

What is your dosage of Gonal-F? I was told Gonal-F and Follistim are pretty similar (both manmade fertility drugs) and I didn't get too crazy on my Follistim--granted, I only took max 150 iu a day. But I LOVE  what your doctor told your DH! :rotfl2: My Mike didn't get that warning :headache:

Sooooo exciting!!!!

your little girl (avatar) is so cute!!

It's wonderful to hear success stories following a period of infertility! We just did our 4th round of IUI. We really amped up the odds this time, as we had 3-4 follicles as a result of doing injectibles for the first time. I'm testing Friday, at 13 dpo this time -- because I want to be able to get a beta at the office Friday regardless of positive or negative HPT. (I am on progesterone supplements so I simply refuse to stop them until a blood test tells me I'm not pregnant)

If you're doing a FET, it should be much cheaper thankfully! Would you still need to be on some type of meds to get you to the right point for the transfer to happen? I'm not too familiar with frozen embryo transfers.

I wish you well, I hope this can happen for you soon!!! And I'm glad you came to this thread. Definitely stick around, these are a great bunch of ladies!

Thanks! We think she is adorable...but well, ya know. She cracks us up every day. She loves talking on the phone, dancing, and already has serious attitude issues:eek: She is almost impossible to "punish" because she is so darn funny. Right now she gives this mean look, almost looks like this:headache:, when you tell her no. I can't keep a straight face.

Good Luck on your IUI! We did 3. The problem we had was so-called male infertility. DH's sperm were lazy:rotfl: Its nice to laugh about it now. I still wonder if there wasn't more on my side...but the dr's couldnt find anything wrong.:confused3 Call it intuition... I just felt like there was more to it.

The FET is about 1/3 of the price as doing a whole new round...so that is nice. I had to leave my job last year, so right now I'm babysitting to make xtra $. Our income is almost 1/2 what it was before. BUT... I wouldnt have it any other way. After trying for so long and go thru so much, I love spending every minute with DD.

I *think* the only meds I may have to take are the progesterone shots to trick my body into thinking we are pregnant before we get pregnant. I was on those thru my 1st trimester with Liz. I started bleeding at 5 or 6 weeks so they kept me on those until 13 weeks along. I think those were worse than any of the other meds.

We were thinking of using next years tax refund to do the next round. Bit of a dilema tho. We have been planning a big family trip to WDW for Oct 2011. My FIL is sick and we want to go back before he gets too much worse. (We all think maybe 5 years:sad2:) Financially they can't go this year... so we said next year for DD's 3rd birthday. So anyway... If we did IVF next spring I would either be HUGE in October or have a newborn. Maybe we will wait till after we get back

WOOHOO esbrick! It will fly once you start. Ganirelix burns a little, but goes away pretty quick. And I agree-it can happen on the first try, because that's what worked for us. I'm still in disbelief...and only a few days out from my due date!

Thank you so much!:goodvibes

Our RN said the same thing that the Gonal-F and Follistim are very similar and that if Insurance coverd one better then the other go with the better coveraged one. I will be taking 2 shots a day of 225 ius. Sheesh! The one good thing is that I get to avoid the Lupron which gives you head aches and hot flashes so that's good. the Ganirelix i guess does the same thing without the crazy side effects.:thumbsup2

OMGoodness I can't believe you're only a few days out! It seems like only yesterday you got your BFP! I remember how excited we all were!:cool1: Now we can be more excited cause it's time for your little bean to arrive soon!

I'm mostly nervous about the progesterone to be honest. But hey whatever it takes right:love:

Pigletsmommy and WDW thank you so much for your encouragement! I love being around you all!

Finally started spotting today. HOpefully my next cycle will be a normal 28 days. If so, AF should just be leaving when we arrive at WDW, so that wouldn't be too bad. If she is late like the past two months, she'll be joining me on the cruise. :( :(

I'm still pretzeled for you that she completes and begs off visiting during your trip. If she does, look at it this way, the adult pool is a great place to try fruity / different concoctions that the fabo bartenders will make for you. They will do that anywhere. You can always lie out and get a rockin tan and then shower and be all set and a hottie in the evening for dinner. We have been hearing alot from friends recently that the sun is stronger so make sure to pack at least the 30spf and you will be good to go! I am so excited for you! I'm also praying for the Disney Magic to take hold while you are away! pixiedust: You will have a great time no matter what! Yahoo! Only a month away sister:cool1:

Skuttle - Such a downer. Just glad it won't interfere with your vacation.

E - So glad you have a plan. :cheer2: Will be rooting for you!!!!

cher - So excited for you too.

Well, ladies AF showed up yesterday. But, I am happy she did because now I can start clomid soon. I have my 3 day ultrasound tomorrow morning and then we can go forward. I'm hopefull (with reservation) that this may work.

Sorry about AF Skuttle and MommaSnowWhite- but good luck with the clomid Momma, I would love to hear if you have any side effects and how it all goes for you.

And WDWAurora- WOW!! I can't believe you are so close, good luck with the labor. Do you know what you are having or is it a surprise? Please come back and reports to us soon, it is good to hear a happy ending :)

well at least she's no longer MIA. Hopefully she'll make her stay short and then next month she better NOT show up during Disney.

Sorry about AF but Woohoo on clomid!! Let us know how the u/s goes tomorrow :thumbsup2

No progress or anything, as of Monday anyway. We shall see...I'm sure I'll try to post a pic at some point! I'm still feeling pretty well, but I'm going out of work tomorrow, and just can't wait to get out of there. My work situation is pretty awful. After all the hassle to get pregnant though, I have to say that this has been about the easiest most wonderful pregnancy I could have hoped for. We have been truly blessed.

I suspect you will go past your due date though. hehe

Ladies it was a BFN today. I took an OPK and it was dark, so I just don't get it.

I'm at work and leaving to get a blood beta in about an hour

That's great honey! Keep us posted:grouphug:

Well, I'm back from my u/s and I have 8 folicles. Not bad for my age, so this month it is clomid for me. They do want to do another u/s on day 14 to see if it worked.

My RE said something about a hormone being high - I really wish I could remember which one. Of course having it be high was not good, so that makes me more curious.

Grr. I hope that is wrong. I will still keep my fingers crossed for the blood test!
