Hi ladies,

Good luck E!

Well our first RE consult appointment is tomorrow morning at 9:00. I'm trying to stay positive and keep an open mind.

I hope to get a good night's sleep. DH and I took the day off, which is a nice plus to the day.

Good Luck Rachael! pixiedust:
Are you getting more snow there too? Hope that doesn't interfere w/ the appt.

Rachael, good luck at your appt. Mine is at 8 am central for baseline b/w and ultrasound. I don't see the dr til 9:30 though.

Thanks!

Snow is scheduled for late afternoon so we should be okay. They have no idea how much we'll get. I heard as little as 5 and as much as 18?!:scared1:

Fill you all in after the visit!

Good luck Cherbear and Rachael!!! Sending good thoughts your ways!:goodvibes

I'm crossing my fingers that I will be able to get home in under 2 hours! :scared1: I would really love to leave here at 4 if I could and go home and do some laundry, and then stare at the calender/ clock and will it to go faster. . . :rolleyes1

Well Lady Friends of the TTC,

The news is not good.

The RE thinks based on my FSH level, it was 19 on day 10 of my cycle that my eggs of dying in mass and at a much quicker rate than normal for someone who is 36. I might be premenopausal. She is running more tests, including hormonal work ups, a clomid challenge test and a bunch of other stuff that required 12 tubes of blood.

On Friday, assuming the blood work shows I'm not pregnant. (A waste of a test if you ask me.) I'll start Provera to bring on AF.

Followed by bloodwork on day 3 of cycle to check the FSH to cement the fact that my eggs are committing bulk suicide.

Followed by the clomid challenge on day 6. (Really, who comes up with these things? It's literally called the "clomid challenge"!)

After likely failing the clomid challenge, and the whole FSH thing, my only option is IVF. Someone my age who they can regulate ovulation for and whose eggs aren't doing the death march has a 50% to 60% success rate. Someone in my likely shoes has a 20% to 25% success rate.

If my day 3 FSH is less than 14 the RE wants to go with clomid and IUI combo (after the HGS test to see if my tubes are blocked) if unsuccessful the IVF. This would be the best case scenario.

The slightly sunny spot in this is that my insurance just about covers EVERYTHING. We're talking unlimited IUIs, meds, but they have to be mail order I think, 6 cycles of IVF, freezing embryos for 2 years, embryo transfers etc, donor eggs and donor services too. The only thing not covered is a surrogate.

They do require pre-certification and proof of documented infertility which I have from my GYN and they will submit all paperwork.

The RE was great, really great. I can't say enough good things about the place; professional, nice, empathetic, explained everything. Really just nice.

I am just so freaking mad and sad. I woke up this morning in a panic that the RE was going to say something like this. I just knew it was something to do with my egg shelf life. And to add insult to injury in I might be going through early menopause. Seriously, I just knew it. I seriously knew it.

I need to get through this diagonstic cycle as they call it to figure out do we leave a 20% chance of success on the table or just move on. I am so bummed.

E- I hope your 2WW goes by very quickly and ends with great news for you.

Cher- I hope your appointment went well!

Rachael

Rachel, I will pray that the bloodwork shows they were WRONG and that you pass the clomid challenge. However that is FABULOUS about your insurance! Do you have Kaiser??

I don't have ANY fertility coverage. So I am hoping we won't ever need IVF.

Racheal ~

Aww crudballs! The good thing is that your RE gave you a plan. Granted it's not the plan you wanted but it's a plan. It doesn't make it any easier though. :upsidedow

That is great news about your insurance though! Mine is pretty good as well and I consider us so lucky!

My fingers are crossed for you and thank you for your good wishes!:)

Awww Rachael that sucks. I'm so sorry you got that news.

I'm so glad your insurance is so generous, though, and that you have a good RE. At least you have those two things in your favor...

 Rachael. That stinks.

I am glad, though that your RE is taking some action and that your insurance will cover it.

There is a woman on the DIS who had a similar problem, and she used an egg donor. I bet she would be willing to talk to you if you would like. Let me know.

Rachel- so sorry. glad that you have a plan and I hope the best case scenario works out for you.

I am having one of those work days when you just feel like you can't keep your eyes open. . .:surfweb:. Ugh, and it's not a pregnancy symptom- haha, I am not in the TWW yet. Just boredom.

With all of the IUI going on I can feel good news on the way- I hope we get a bunch of BFP's soon! Crossing my fingers for all of you who are waiting!

UGh...not a fun appointment. But you do have a plan and have great insurance. I called on my insurance since my next appointment is with the RE....it will cover testing to diagnose....but no treatments for infertility.

I'm praying they are wrong too. I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield- Advantage Blue.

I hope you won't need it either. When will you find out about your next steps?
