A CM on mousewait has announced a new tour called the disney California story. It's a walking tour about the early 1900's in California. Features include access to 3 attractions, lunch, a pin, and a look inside the 1901 lounge. Cost is $109 but select discounts can be applied.
Starts july 17th. Haven't found any official announcements though. Anyone else hear about this?

It was mentioned a few days ago on another discussion board recently. Same thing, information released to CMs so far, public announcement expected soon.

Yay! Thanks for the heads up. I think this will be a great addition to the tours they already have. DCA needed one badly!

The tours in DL do well because there is so much history there. DCA doesnt have that appeal. It will be interesting to see how this tour does.

I don't know, I think there is plenty to talk about in DCA. Especially with the redone Buena Vista Street and the California specific stuff like aviation and automobiles. I think there is plenty of fodder for an interesting and fun tour.

Oh no! Now do I do the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour or the new tour? Decisions decisions :confused3

If the attractions include RSR and TSMM, that would be very valuable on a busy day. Carthay Circle has had a short free tour (partially to encourage dining at the restaurant), which could be integrated this new paid tour.

The announcement was officially made on both the disney blog and disneyland Facebook page. Sounds like fun!

The CM leading my WIWF tour told me about this and he was VERY excited about being able to go lead one.

I'll be doing it just so I can view the inside of 1901 with my own eyes.

DH and I just signed up for the very first tour on July 17th!! And I mean, the very first tour - 10:00am July 17th! We are super excited. :yay: We will tell you all about it when we get back from our trip.

I'm going on the 20th. I am really looking forward to this tour :)

When I took the Cultivating the Magic tour when it first opened, I chatted with a tour guide named Tyler (he's since moved up), and he told me they were working on this one. So, it's been in the works for awhile now.

yes you do, this is way more worth it than the DCA one. i suggest doing WiWF over DCA.. only do DCA once you've done WiWF.

Me too. Just signed up for the same tour this morning. I was gonna do the WIWDF tour at 9:30, but moved that one to the afternoon so I could do the first DCA tour. Because the 17th is Disneyland's birthday, I'm hoping the guide will talk about opening day, and know is his/her history. The afternoon tour should wrap-up around the time that Walt dedicated the park at Town Square.

I can't wait to try this tour..I've been inside 1901 for a pre Cars Land opening event, but wasn't able to take pictures. Plus the rest of it sounds very interesting as well. I hope to do this in October.

The 1901 is such a cool spot...obviously not the same as Club 33 but pretty amazing in it's own right. It would be worth the $100 tour to see it - there is some history in there you won't ever see anywhere else. Here's a couple pics

This is the Original Snow White in German - if you stand in front of it longer than 60 seconds an alarm goes off!

There's a pic of Walt's parents and the airplane that used to sit on his desk

This is a hidden Mickey and a memo from Walt stating that "no belly buttons should ever be shown"

This image of Walt appears on the wall at various times

I had a few drinks at the bar - they use a crazy method to make round ice cubes

My husband insisted on taking a pic of me walking out a little tipsy

My partner an I are scheduled to go on this tour on Friday July 18th!!! (The 2nd day the tour is available) We are very excited!!!

I'm confused how lunch would be served at this restaurant. Isn't it just a Starbuck's? I was hoping for a better dining option during a paid tour.
