New to World of Disney--Questions about DVC

I'm fairly new to the whole world of Disney. We are planning our second trip to WDW before boarding DCL. Someone suggested that I look into renting points because it can sometimes be cheaper. I had posted on the rental/trade board for points for BCV for Dec 7-9, 2006 and got no response. I'm not sure if it's because it is too early to be asking or because I don't know what I'm doing? Can someone explain what the use year is, and how far in advance I could rent points?

Hi, you do need to find someone now for your points.BCV will go fast.BCV owners are the only ones that can book BCV right now,but it will definetly be all booked up.So just post again over there someone will respond.

Your post is now on page 4 of the Rent/Trade Board. Seems to be lots of activity over there the last few days. Your post is probably lost in the shuffle. My advice is to bump your post to the top again and then see if you get any responses.

Also FWIW, experienced owners will see that you are asking to rent a Friday night. They know that it is almost always less expensive to pay cash and go directly through Disney for Friday and Saturday nights and so they pass you by. Have you checked rack rates for what you want to see if renting is the best deal for you?
