I've been looking at the WDW thread for most of the day and as a DLR pro, I am exhausted by the overload of information, great information, just vast. Please move my question if this is not the right place to ask it.

I am looking to plan our first ever trip to WDW the first week of January 2016. We would be flying in 1/2 and would be in the parks 1/3-1/7. I researched and noticed the holiday time usually goes into the first couple days of the first week of the year, so we would likely catch a couple days of it, at the very least. I know for DLR, those days after New Years weekend are relatively quiet (if you can say that about any disney park). Would you say that's the same for WDW? I also noticed from looking at prior years rehabs during January, that they usually don't start any rehabs until after the 5th of January. I haven't seen any majob hiccups or reasons not to go from reasearch. I did see that there is a marathon that weekend, but we'll be gone by then.

I care less about rehabs and more about less people. Any input would be fantastic, thank you!

I researched and noticed

1. Recently, much of it stays up much longer than that.
2. No.
3. The only "regular" Jan. refurb is Splash Mtn.
4. Expect all of the parks to still be pretty busy the dates of your trip.

We were there those dates in jan 2013 and the parks were not crowded at all. Check some crowd calendars to determine low crowds.

I know splash mt is regularly closed in January.

As everyone else has already said, Splash is the most likely to be refurbished and the crowds shouldn't be that bad while you are there. I hope that you have a wonderful time on your visit to the world.:cool1:

Usually one of the water parks is shut down each winter for refurbishment, not sure which one it is this year.

The only real tips I have for avoiding crowds is to avoid whichever park is having extra magic hours (unless of course you are only going for the extended hour itself) they tend to be the most crowded. Also avoid MK on the weekends.

Other then that have fun, Disney World is a completely different experience from Disneyland.

Thanks so much everyone! It really is another universe compared to DL, but how can one be a dis-fanatic and not go to WDW? Obviously the answer is you go. My DH can thank Discovery Family for showing the WDW Behind the Scenes special last night :rotfl:
