new to US/IOA - Help!

I haven't felt my children were old enough for US/IOA until now. We're certified Disney fans but know nothing about US or it's resorts. HELP! How do you find the best prices and discounts for tickets and hotel rooms? How do decide which hotel is best of the 3 that appear to be Universal? I've seen Portofino Bay on Great Hotels and it looks great! I'd never even heard of Royal Palms until I started looking over this site today. Any help you could give would be great!

The three hotels are Portofino Bay (nicest), Hard Rock Hotel (second) and Royal Pacific. If you go to http://www.usoinfo.comthere are many pictures of the resorts. If you go to http://www.uescape.com, there are videos of the rooms as well as other pictures. There are many discounts to be had; AAA, Fan Club, Entertainment Rate, Florida Residents Rate, etc. You need to phone the hotels and ask what discounts are available for the dates you need. You can then go about obtaining the Entertainment book, fan club card, etc. I recommend that you hop over to the Universal Resorts board and read the many posts about the pros and cons of different hotels. There is a ton of information out there and it is lots of fun the sift through . Good luck
