Hi! I am very new to this whole thing. I have heard a lot of good things about renting DVC points however I am not really sure how they work. I hear of people getting great deals but I am not quite understanding how they do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am booked at POR the end of April begining of May and wondered if I could find something cheaper here. I am in a party of 6 but one is a baby so they dont count that or at least didnt for POR.

Thank you for your help. I guess I am confused about the pricing of DVC resorts. I have seen the site that shows how many points you need for a DVC room and not sure if I am reading it right. For instance if I wanted to book a room that sleeps 5 plus a crib for April 31-May 2 at say Boardwalk am I looking at it right by reading I would need 70 points? And if thats the case and most points run about 10 dollars I am looking to pay around 700.00 for the 2 nights?

I was wondering the same thing. I am a little confused about understanding how the points work. Any help would be appreciated. I am thinking about renting but want to make sure I completely understand first.

Thanks!!!

With 5 plus a child under the age of three, you would need a two bedroom villa at the minimum. That would be 34 points per night in May and 40 in April. Average $10 per point, maybe more since you are getting close to the 30 day period for DVC members to cancel without a penalty. A bit more than $700 for two nights.

OK, so I'm assuming you want to come in on April 30th and check out on May 2nd right? In that case you would need 62 points for a 2 bedroom standard view at the Boardwalk. DVC members typically rent their points for anywhere between $10 and $12 per point.

I am wondering if the party of six is all adults except for the baby? If you don't want to spend that much for 2 nights, you can always do 2 studios. That would probably be less. They are very nice. That is what we stayed in, because there are only 3 of us. I haven't stayed in a 1 or 2 bedroom yet! So, if you haven't stayed in a 1 or 2 bedroom, you probably won't know the difference! :rotfl2:
Just a suggestion!

The party is 2 adults a 16, 14, 2 and 8 month old.

Unless you want to split the adults, two studios won't work - there are no connecting DVC studios. Your party would need a 2 bedroom unit.

FWIW, two connecting rooms at one of the value resorts is usually the least expensive option for those who need more than one room. If Disney allowed your party to book at POR, that is probably your least expensive option.

The amenities of a DVC 2 bedroom unit far exceed those of one room at the POR - but if you are on a tight budget, POR is probably your best option.

Best wishes -
