I’m waving, “Hello,” to everyone right now!

I bought the “Unofficial Guide” and the Passporter!

I’m freaking out because now I’m overwhelmed. We can’t do a commando style trip. My DS has CCD and it slows him down a little so afternoon breaks are scheduled.

My family, which consists of DH, DD- 9 yr., and DS who is almost 3. This is the first trip for the kids, and the second for DH and I. We spent our honeymoon at WDW 14 years ago.

Air fare, rental car, and hotel are paid for. We are doing the Gold plan to save time. This was the blow your budget for a vacation of a lifetime thing for us.

So I would like some input from the experts. Am I over planning, planning to much, or not planning enough?

Hi Kellye,

Thanks for reading the Unofficial Guide. You might be interested in the Guide's two-day touring plans of the Magic Kingdom. They're much more relaxing, and you can fit in mid-day breaks as well. If you have any questions on the Guide or its touring plans, feel free to drop me a line.

Sincerely,

Len Testa

Welcome to DIS.

I don't plan much, even when we go in the summer, but if you have a 3 year old, I would plan breaks back at the room for a nap and/or pool. THe first year we went DD was 6 and a very active child. (He stopped napping when he was 1 1/2 and was not a sleeper) He was exhausted after 2 days. And we stopped for afternoon breaks. One morning we couldn't wake him up. He was passed out on the day bed and would not move until around 10am.

I know this may be a once in a lifetime trip, but take it easy and if the kids start to have a melt down, go back to the POP and relax. My DS loves swimming at the pools, it is one of his favorite parts of the trip. Take advantage of the late evenings at MK, it will be cooler. After we had seen the fireworks once, the other nights we were there we went to the Judge's Tent in Toon town and saw the characters with no lines.

It will be hot, so drink lots of water. We also found that eating quick light meals were better for us in the heat, but whe we did a plan similiar to the gold plan we ate at a lot of sit-down places. We loved the Crystal Palace and Liberty Tree Tavern in MK. IF you have a Rain Forest Cafe near you, don't waste your time at the one at Ak. I don't think it is worth it (well, I don't think the one here is worth it either, same with Planet Hollywood. Just my opinon) There is wonderful places in Epcot to try over those two places.

Have fun planning! I am sure you will get more advice from others.

Hi, and welcome!:wave2:

Well, I don't know if your schedule is too busy for you and your family or not.

DH and I are definately NO Commando style parks people. We are taking our 8 yr old granddaughter in May, and I actually have a couple of days with absolutely nothing planned. On those days we will go where we want, when we want, possibly part of the day in the pool, have no idea where we will eat, etc. But DH and I like to have some time where we can just "go with the flow".

Have a great trip!

Thanks for the advice. I talked them out of Planet Hollywood but not the Rainforest. I still have 10 days to work on them.

Len I will look again at the book... With all the reading I must have overlooked it and saw the one day plan and thought we might dead afterwards if we tried that. LOL

We have rest times worked in at my son's normal rest time. He's been fighting me on naps lateley with the, "Nooo nappy." So he might just crash and burn in the stroller.

I'm determined not to wipe the family or I out over this trip.
