Hello.
New to sight and im a dad trying to plan a perfect suprise christmas gift for my wife and soon to be 3 year old daughter. ( way over my head plainning and stressfull) Well i got a room reserved at AOA LM room. 1/6-1/11. I could afford to stay at a moderate but chose this for my 2 year old. Think this is a good choice? Also was wondering if anyone has used Disney Floral & Gifts to decorate there room and leave some suprises for my daughter and wife in room. Any suggestions would be great and also pointers for a clueless dad. Im hoping for free dining to come out soon for my dates.

Make ADRs (reservations) for any restaurants you want to eat at ASAP! Yes, I know its still a bit from the trip but dining opens up at 180 days out and fills up quickly. You can make them online at WWW.disneyworld.com/dining or call (407) WDW-dine. Try to keep the times for meals about the same ad at home to make it easier of your DD. I have never had the florist do a room decoration but they have done amazing flowers for me. I think you made a great choice in hotel for your DD! Let me know if you need any more info. I will help as mug as posible as I am sure a ton of wonderful disers will too!

Excellent choice for your daughter I think. The reports on the resort look great. We always stay at POP and love it there.

I recall other members of these boards recommending another gift supplier...I'm sure they'll be along soon...seem to recall a sandpail filled with goodies that might be great for your DD.

As far as resort. originally was going to do p.o.r princess room but as i looked into it more i thought she would enjoy the resort at aoa much better. I didnt mind paying to have slightly better ammenties at p.o.r just was thinking about the WOW factor for her at AOA. If free dining comes out or room discounts i will prolly upgrade to nemo suite. Just cant justify an extra 1,000 dollars for suite when its just 3 of us. But if disney offers something i will prolly upgrade just to have more room and be closer to center of resort. Do you think its wise to rent a car since she is only 2.5 and we have dinner reservations at other resorts?

if free dining comes out I'd upgrade to POR-Royal room vs a Nemo Suite. WIth your reservations you want at least the regular dining and will have to pay an upgrade in the dining with a value vs a moderate. However, with just 2 adults and a 2yr old a room discount might be a better offer. Would have to price out any discounts to get the best bang for your buck

por princess room is nice but the wow factor for a almost 3 year old is what i was after. The por room has things in it princess related that my 3 year old wont appreciate. Aside from the head board.
I dont mind paying to upgrade dining plan as long as it evens out if i upgrade to nemo suite. But again i want to do what is best and works out to be a better deal. everyone wants a good deal.
My wife also loves disney and i think she would want whatever is gonna have my daughter most excited.
ITs a hard trip for a dad to plan as a suprise christmas gift. I cant get my wifes opinion since it her present to and she will be just as excited if not more than my daughter. Glad i found this site!
Is there a better place to post about the companys that offer gift delivered to room or possibly decorating room.

I don't have personal experience with this but have read that many people have used Memories by Betsy for gift baskets and have been pleased.

I vote for getting a rental car. My family has found the convenience well worth the price. It will also make getting to your dining reservations much easier.

Can I make one suggestion? If you're doing CRT (which is our favorite princess meal), why not do something else instead of Ankershus? I would suggest trying Garden Grill. It's in Epcot and has Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale. This place only serves dinner and has the best character interaction hands down.

I think the Little Mermaid rooms would be perfect for your little princess.

I haven't done any in room surprises, but I also haven't heard of anyone being disappointed.

well my main reason is because she is in love with princesses thats what her thing is. and those days are spread out begining and end of vacation. she isnt really into mickey right now. And we will see him at chef mickeys. Also not sure how she is gonna act with the big characters yet hopefully it will be fine but i know she will love the princesses

Im gonna consider it though. Thanks for suggestions thats what im looking for!

Ohana (as long as she knows who Lilo and Stitch are)

Not sure about:
Tusker House (never done TH)
1900 Park Fare (I would do Crystal Palace with Pooh instead)

To the car question- my vote would be yes. It will be much quicker to get from resort to resort using a car, rather than relying on Disney transportation. The Disney buses are fine, but there will be a lot of travel time you'll have to schedule in. Plus, you can use it for quick hops back to the resort for midday naps or pool time, and if you should need to buy groceries or something. And while the buses are safe, you have the added safety of a car seat in a rental car. Our trip is two adults, no kids. If I had kids, I would DEFINITELY get a rental car.

And to the earlier questions, you can also go to Hobby Lobby or Michaels before you leave and buy the little gel stickers that stick to glass. It's a cheap way to decorate your room and make it your own

I would suggest only doing one character meal a day and maybe schedule some restaurant time at "regular" restaurants. The food will in most cases only be OK and your daughter might be way too excited to eat.

You are the man!! This will be a Christmas that neither your DW or DD will forget. I would rent a car if it fits into the budget. We always drive (~15 hours) and love the flexibility of have a car to get to ADR. We also always drive to the parks. We just feel that it is easier and we like controlling our own schedule.

i think your wife and daughter will be thrilled! i wouldn't change your resort or room-you find that you really don't spend that much time there and you can always walk around the whole resort to see things your daughter likes. i think you are a little heavy on character dining. with that many table service meals you really have to stick to a schedule and are spending up to two hours a day eating. there is so much to see and do for a three year old it can get overwhelming. you may want to plan downtime to be able to go back to the hotel to nap or just swim. another poster suggested changing 1900 park fare to the crystal palace, and i think this a great idea. the buffet there is pretty good, and we've always had great interaction. plus you'll already be in the magic kingdom and not have to worry about going to another resort. it sounds like you are going to have a magical time.
