Hi everyone, I've been lurking for a month or so, looking for tips for my upcoming trip in January 2012. I'm very excited because it will be our first time staying in the resorts. We have reserved a standard level room at Wilderness Lodge after much agonizing over staying at the Contemporary or The Yacht Club. Decided the savings in cost for WL would allow us to enjoy more "extras" while we are there. I'll be traveling with my husband and 5 year old son. This will be my husband's 3rd trip to Disney World and my son's 2nd.

My first bit of pixie dust or Disney magic came the day after I put my deposit on the trip. My travel agent called with the news that Free Dining was announced for the time we will be there. :wizard:

We just watched the free Disney Planning DVD and I'm happy to report that my husband and son are getting close to my level of excitement for the trip.

Welcome! I'm fairly new also! Great info on here! If you have any questions feel free to ask! Many will be willing to help! :)

You have picked a great resort.....we were CR fans back in the late 70's and early 80's.....many a trip was spent there in the north garden wings.......but.....as time wore on and things changed at the resort....we found we didn't care for alot of the changes and moved on...it was hard, the Contemporary was our home from the beginning......

Then along came the WL and after at least 10 trips to the Lodge, no other resort can beat it for, theme, location and price.....it's a very compact resort, all under one roof, 700+ rooms which is easily maintained with its restaurants and pool....boat travel to the MK a huge plus for us since we never rent a car on Disney's property and buses get old after awhile.....plus we're MK fans...rather spend time there than any other park....

You'll enjoy the exxperience....wander over to the villa lobby and check out the Train room and its decor....catch a movie at the beach each night, EWP too and some of the best vittles on property (buffet) can be had at FW at Trails End.....cheapest too......keep us posted upon your return!!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I am looking forward to WL very much. It resembles a ski resort where we spend a lot of time at during the winter, and in fact, when my son saw the first picture of it, he said "That looks like Seven Springs!"....so I know that he will be comfortable there.

I will get a peek at Contemporary while we are there - have made ADR's for Chef Mickey's during our visit and am allowing time to explore other resorts for (hopefully) future visits.

Nice to "be" among other people who seem to understand my love of Disney.
