New to DVC, need assistance on renting points

Hi, my husband and myself are new DVC owners. We have 150 points (SSR) use year Setember that we would like to rent, but are not sure how to go about doing so. We understand that the going rate is 10 a point, but are not sure how the transaction and booking works. Any help would be greatly appreciated Katiemugs2

First of all, post your points on the trade/rent board. Make sure your specify the home resort and use year.

$10 is about right for SSR these days.

Two things may happen. A non-DVC'er could rent your points. In this case, you would get payment (see the FAQ on the rental board for how that usually works - I've generally paid the whole amount shortly before or at booking) and make a res for that person. The res would be under your number, but the other person's name. MS might not let the other person change the res directly, but only through you.

If it's a DVC member, you could transfer the points to their account. This is best done with a 3 way call to MS. Note though that only works if the points are not borrowed (i.e. they are Sept '05 points) nor banked. Also the rules state no money is supposed to change hands if transferring (but that doesn't seem enforced - after all you can legally rent to a DVC'er, so why not transfer?)
