Hello all!

We are new to DVC joining at SSR, yea!! We had thought about this for years and just thought now was the time to belong. We are very happy to join DVC and our planning our first trip 'home' to SSR this December.

My question is regarding the Month of December. This will be the first time that we are going to WDW in the month of December. I really wanted to see the beautiful Christmas decorations and enjoy the holiday spirt. We are going the week before Christmas, what can we expect for crouds? ( I know silly question)

In the past our family have enjoyed MNSSHP and I understand that a Chrismas type party is also offered. When should I start to watch for tickets and dates? We also enjoyed dinner at MK while waiting for the MNSSHP. Is a dinner like this also available before the Christmas party?

I understand that EPCOT has santas from around the world offering story telling. I would love to hear of any other tips from those who have been to WDW during the Christmas Holiday. What is a 'not to miss' Holiday tradition that you and your family enjoy?

And at check in can we change the Towel and Trash day to day 3 of our stay, is there a charge in changing the date?

Thank you for your time!

We've gone at the beginning of December the past 6 years. It's a great time to go! Crowds are low. Here is a site with some information:

You can change trash & towel days by calling housekeeping direct, there is no charge. Keep in mind that check-in day counts as day 1.

thanks Debbie,
I should have noted that I have enjoyed Deb's Site and her Christmas information.

Have you been to the Mickey Christmas Party? If so do you recommend it? We did really enjoy the MNSSHP so I figure we can not go too wrong with the Christmas party if it is available during our stay.

I do enjoy Deb's All Ears site and thank you for the link.

Don't forget to plan on the Candlelight processional at Epcot too. We love that one too!

Thanks!
I will add that to my list. I'm already making my list for our December trip! What a hoot this is for me. We have never been to Disney in December and it will also be our first trip as DVC members!

Congratulations and Welcome Home neighbor! This will also be our first trip to Disney during December. Have a great time!

The week before Christmas the crowds start to pick up. The first two weeks of December are the least crowded. We will be at the VWL Dec. 12th to the 24th. It is our favorite time of the year to be at WDW.

I give another thumbs up for the Candlelight Processionl. It is beautiful.

Christmas Week the crowds are over the top. You will never find it more crowded: however, if you go the first 3 weeks you have the place to yourself, at least the parks to yourself. DVC is crowded those weeks but not the parks. I did Christmas Week once, never again, if you go in December go before Christmaas Week. the decorations are everywhere and beautiful. You have the Christmas Party at Mk and the Candlelight Procession, yes it comes with a dinner off limited menus. They used to have a holiday dinner show at Contemp but they don't do that anymore. I believe the Osborne Lights will be back also.

We did Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party for the first time last year and loved it even more than MNSSHP. You get cookies and hot chocolate instead of trick or treat candy and it snows on Main Street. Friday and Saturday nights are pretty crowded so if you can go to one of the parties during the week, you'll probably enjoy the experience more.

We loved MVMCP, too, and would recommend it highly.

Just want to be sure you're aware that Dec. is a super-busy time for DVCers, and reservations get booked quickly, so don't wait. Even though the parks are quieter, DVC resorts are hopping.

MVMCP and Candlelight Processional have always been the highlights of our trip. We go to MVMCP on Sunday or Tuesday, it's never been very crowded. The last 2 or 3 years they have allowed admission after 4:00pm so that gives you a great jump on the party. We usually see CP twice, once with the package early in our trip and again later without the package. Different narrators make it seem different. It's pretty easy to get a standby seat on a weeknight.
