New to DISigns

I am looking around at all these amazing DISigns, and I hope maybe some can answer some questions....
I've viewed some beautiful work and think I understand how this works-
If I were looking for a t-shirt DISign, I've tried to make my own last time for 10 of us.... Ugh!!!
How would I apply it? Do people send the image to vista print and order shirts there or could I print it at home and iron it on? What have you done? What do you recommend?

due to Disney copyright laws you have to create the shirts yourself if you use any Disney images....any other approach is not legal. (unless the company has an agreement with Disney)

most of our images are for you to print out at home and then iron on....

That makes sense, I thought I had seen something about sending it to vista print....
