Several questions-
1. What do you do with your belongings when you are at the parks (tent camping)

2. Are all of the partial campsites close to the bathrooms?

3. What do you do in case of heavy rains (travellng in June).

Thanks!!!!!

Ok, here goes:

1)lock valuables (i.e. camera or camcorder not going to the parks with you) in the car. Regular camping items I wouldn't worry about.

2)Every loop - partial or full h/u - has at least one comfort station (bathhouse). Some sites are near it, some are not. Distance really depends on the size of the loop. For the partial h/u loops, 1500 is much smaller than 2000, so in 2000 you have more chance of NOT being so close to them.

3)Ground tarp under the tent, a rainfly and/or tarp over the tent, and make sure you seal your seams very well prior to going, then do it again!!

Fort Wilderness is great! Enjoy!!

I don't tent, so i can't help you with some of your questions. I do think they have safe deposit boxes available at the front desk check in center if you have anything small that you would like securely locked up.
I am familar with all of the loops and in general you are always just a short walk away from the comfort station. (The comfort stations have private showers, and a laundry mat in case you don't know.)

You can request (call the reservations #) a specific loop and ask to be near a comfort station.

There was a thread a few months ago about keeping dry. Try searching for it. There were many suggestions such as those above, but with specifics such as using a tarp under the tent the same size/shape as your tent, using another layer of plastic inside your tent (never done this myself) and seam sealing.

Have a great trip!

Not only can you put a tarp under your tent, but you can put one over it too. My husband and I hang one high over sloping down on one side. This way the rain does not puddle up on the top of the tarp. We use bungies (sp?) instead of string. It takes a little time and team work, but well worth it. You can actually stand outside instead of being couped up in your tent. We have never done this at Disney, but we will in Dec.

We have been told by some seasoned tenters, to make sure that the ground tarp does not stick out from the edge of the tent. If it does, then rain will be collected and run back under the tent. FW sites are pretty level, but make sure you are on the high ground too. I agree with the tarp over the top and down the sides. We have been through some very heavy storms, and stayed dry inside the tent.
