Hi everybody, just thought I'd say hi. My mother took me to Disney probably about 10 times before I turned 18, and I truly have an addiction to it. Its been 6 years (far too long!) since I've been and now I have a wife and daughter, and we are all going back! Our trip is scheduled in September. We are even taking my wife's mother along, her first time!

The reason why I joined the board is to get advice on things to do with a 1.5 year old. I'm used to riding the rides, shows, park hopping, late nights, all of which I'm sure is not totally appropriate for my daughter. I'm sure Disney has thought of tons of things for kids her age to do, I just need to find it!

I'm new too!! We're huge disney fans as well! We're going on our 4th disney cruise (Fantasy) in June and found out about the fish extenders. Anyone know any more info?

I wanted to share some experiences we had with our todders when we first took them to disney (we took both of them when they turned 1). If your toddler hasn't had a hair cut yet, go to the barber shop at Main Street. When your child has their first haircut, they will give you mickey ears embroidered with First Haircut. They also will keep the locks they cut off and wrap with "pixie dust" for you to keep. It's great!
Also, make sure you take your little one to disney junior at Hollywood studios! We loved it!
One more thing, if you want to do the character breakfast, but don't want to be so rushed, try the one at Hilton at Downtown Disney (if you stay here, they actually are the only non-disney hotel that has extra magic hours at the parks like the disney resorts or the one at Buena Vista Palace. It's cheaper, food is better and it's not as crowded (go early though). They don't have mickey, but they do have minnie, pluto and goofy!!
:cool1:

we have pretty much the same story..been to disney a million times but now have a husband and son who's 1 (1.5 when we go in October)...i would love to hear how your trip goes when u get back...i'm figuring 3 character meals for i don't want to overwhelm him.. and i guess having to go with the flow will be difficult since i am one who likes to be in a park from open to close... i'm sure it will be so much fun for the little ones since they don't really have any fears....

One thing that has changed now that we have kids is that it's harder to stay for fireworks. They are so cranky by that time and if you have a child who has sensitive ears (my oldest child), then bring some ear plugs or those big ear muffs. My oldest child freaked out when he was a toddler and has been very uneasy ever since. As soon as he gets dark he wants to go because he doesn't want to be around for the loud booms. It's been worth it for us to get the disney fireworks view when we can and just watch it from our room.

Welcome :cool1: How exciting your child's first trip. There are quite a few things to do at Disney and keep in mind each child is different. At 1 1/2 my little one really liked It's A Small World and still does at 6..we still have to ride it at least 3 times each trip, Pooh, Dumbo, Carousel, Peter Pan, Nemo, Mermaid Show, Beauty & Beast show, the parades, The Safari, Dig Site at AK, there are countless shows and mild rides that will attract a 1.5 y/o. The only thing that I know scares many, many children is the Bug's Life show at AK..it is totally awesome but with the 3-D glasses it really looks like there are bugs everywhere: scared1: My little one would enjoy all the water fountains that squirt throughout the parks and DTD...Oh enjoy! Plus if you want to do the adult thing, it really helps that your mother in law may be available to sit one night for you :goodvibes

My 9 and 7 year old love the extra magic hours at night in Magic Kingdom. We stayed until 3am. The girls did great, we had so much fun. It was like a ghost town.
