New ticket using old unused ticket - phone or in-person?

My SIL has an unused ticket she bought for our family trip this past February that we canceled. Everyone else had moved their tickets online before they expired, but it seems hers did not. At the very least, I cannot see it in MDE even though our plans are shared (I can see everyone else’s), and trying to enter in her ticket number on MDE gives me a message that it is assigned to someone else.

My question is, can I call to get a new ticket using the value of that old ticket for our new dates (February 2022), or do I have to wait till we are there and go to Guest Services?

I would call and talk to ticketing. The message that the ticket is already assigned to someone else would be troubling. Does she have more than one MDE account profile? It may be assigned to another profile.

Here was my experiance that I posted on another thread
I am trying to change a date specific ticket purchased for an April trip we did not use. The ticketing site says the cost of a wholly unused expired ticket can be applied to a future ticket, so I thought I could do that online, since prior to its first use date, that ticket had a change option in MDE. However, we had not finalized the our next trip, so I waited. A word of warning, once a wholly unused ticket expires it completely disappears from MDE, and can only be applied toward a future ticket by calling ticketing. Luckily I saved the confirmation email. I cannot believe Disney just drops a ticket that has value from MDE. Are they hoping guests will just forget about it?

Can SHE see it in MDE?

The most likely explanation is that you don't have sharing turned on properly. The fact that you can see everyone else's doesn't mean that you and she are properly linked. Everyone has to share with everyone else for it to work completely.

We have both shared with each other. I can see her reservations, for example, and she appears in my list of friends and family. I just cannot see her ticket.

Usually, it will disappear from MDE Once it is expired. But, ticketing should still see it. Maybe have your friend call and have them update to the new dates and assign to you.

I did that when I needed to change a ticket from one friend to another for different dates.
