New ticket upgrades

No luck! I called and they said that the discount was for pretty much every resort except the campgrounds. Not fair, but oh well!

It appears that, if you are talking about the MYW ticket upgrades, it is available only on wilderness cabins, not campsites.

Once again ---- Campers = red headed step-children !!!!!!!!!!!

When is Disney going to treat us campers like the rest of the resort guests ??????

I actually sent a complaint letter to guest services, I have received 2 responses, saying they are looking into it and will call me. I understand the concept of more people are allowed on a campsite. But I think they should re-evaluate the rule to allow for 4 people or less. We are paying $2,250.00 for a preferred site, MYW ticket for 10 days, with the dining plan. If you figure a value resort for $2,480.00 (for the same package), a difference of $230.00. I just don't see how they can exclude us when we spend the same money, if not more than the average Value resort guest.

Here are my responses so far:

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

soon as possible.

The only issue I would have is that there are already people staying off property booking a partial hookup site for the "perks" and not using it. If Disney extends this perk to the campsites, I am afraid there may be a rush of people doing phantom bookings just for the tickets with a free upgrade. So FW could potentially be full, without a single camper at the place!

Sorry, I don't know what ticket upgrade you are talking about. Please explain. Thanks.

I'm glad I'm not the only one clueless about the ticket upgrade controversy. :confused3

This would be very very bad for us!! One of the reasons we camp is because we have 4 kids (or 6 of us)!! Moderate resorts allow up to 5 people! 10 seems like alot for a campsite but I am sure that there are some families who have 6 or so kids and this is one of the ways that they can go to WDW.

If you click on the announcement at the top of this forum, you will get the specifics of the free upgrade.

I agree that it is a divided issue. We camp because it easier for my kids (who are both autistic). The are familiar with their environment becuase it's theirs!!! It is just soooo sad that people feel the need to cheat the system and ruin it for others! :(

When I mentioned that it should be re-evaluated, I meant that it should be a case by case, or reservation by reservation basis. If you have more than 4 people you would just not be eligible for the discounts, or free dining etc, which aren't available for all of us now.

I wrote on Feb 21st when this deal came out for Disney Visa cardholders. I got the same 1st response as the above poster, but no second response.

I was also told by my AAA agent that I could not get this promo because there were no premium sites available for booking. That may be true, I didn't see any on the WDW website. And if that category is sold out at full price, it won't be offered as a special.

I'm just not going to worry about it. We can all write letters, but beyond that there's nothing we can do.

I didn't think that people would actually book a site just for the benefits. What is this world coming to.

Why do this when you can get a Value resort.

We camp because we love it and I think Disney should treat all resorts the same.

Just venting!

Take a look at this thread if you don't believe it.

Wow! I didn't realize people did that. No wonder why we can't get the discounts. Disney has caught on and now the good has to suffer for the bad!

I got a call from Disney this weekend about my email.

They said that FW is typically excluded from these types of promotions because it is close to capacity. They run specials to get people to come to WDW, and no incentive is needed to get people to come to FW.

I mentioned that there is a desire for additional sites, especially ones for the larger RVs.

In any case, they will forward my email to the marketing department so they know we campers feel slighted.

If anyone else wants to write to Disney, you can use the Contact us link at the bottom of their webpage, disneyworld . com.
