New Ticket Upgrade Policy?

Hi! I have a few questions about upgrading to AP:

1) If I upgrade to an AP on my upcoming trip, when does the AP expire? E.g. I upgrade April 7, 2014, is the AP good until April 7, 2015?

2) To calculate the price I need to pay to upgrade, I take the current AP ticket price (~$675) and subtract the value of my current ticket (if purchased today, assuming price bridging) which is ~ $345 for a 7 day MYW? So ~$330 for an AP upgrade?

3) Is there a "discount" for AP renewal? So next year, if I buy an AP, it will be cheaper than $675 (assuming no price increases next year)?

TIA!!!

Holy Moly! The ticket sticky is GONE! Eek! Thats the end of an era!

Anyone know if it was taken down by the webmasters or by Mike/CF?

I saw another post about the sticky and just looked - the sticky still seems to be there! I know Mike hasn't been around for a while but the posts are helpful anyway...hopefully someone tracks mike down and reports back that he is okay soon!

1). I may be wrong but I think it expires a year from when you first use the ticket, not the upgrade date.

2). Yes...though I didn't check your numbers.

3). Yes

The Ticket Sticky was removed from this forum for a few hours today, but...

The Ticket Sticky is now BACK.

It appears to be unaltered and the ticket prices are still outdated.
But, it contains a lot of good info.

I wish someone would post some good info on Mike "Cheshire Figment."

I saw a post from someone who knows his full name who said they googled it and didn't find an obituary or a police report - that's partially good news, I guess.

It should be set to expire a year after first use of the ticket you upgrade from, NOT the date you upgraded.

And it goes through that day not TO that day. So if you used your ticket April 1st 2014, it will be good through April 1 2015. (366 days in a regular year...367 in a leap year)

I just got out my UT tickets to link to MDE. I noticed that there is a date on them at the bottom. I know there was debate in this thread about whether Disney knows the date they were actually purchased. Well, is this new? I have the old Tyvek tickets purchased last June before the price increase. Either way, it seems I do have a date on my tickets if there was any question!

And does it match the date you purchased it??

Not to be picky but there are 365 days in a regular year and 366 in a Leap year.
Have a magical day!

They are dated the day after I purchased them, however, I did order them in the evening, so really they are dated the first business day possible! Either way, this seems likely that the date matches my purchase.

Except she is saying that you get two April 1sts, therefore 366/367, due to the fact that it is good through the end of the expiration date. Correct?

Correct.

366 days of use in a regular year for an AP.

367 days of use in a leap year for an AP.

So, in the example where we have an AP that was good from April 1, 2014 through April 1, 2015, if we were to renew it, would it be good from April 2, 2015 through April 2, 2016?

Nope.
In the case of an AP "renewal," the same anniversary date is retained on the
"renewed" AP.

If you were to purchase a NEW AP on April 2, 2015, it would be good through April 2, 2016

AP question..... if I decided on my last day at the parks to upgrade to an AP from a regular ticket, the AP date would begin when? The day I FIRST used my ticket,or the DAY I decided to make it an AP? Thank you for the info !!!!:cool1:
Also...I get confused every time I try this but...say I have 5 day PH pass- and decide I want to upgrade to an AP..... at the gate (after use) I would receive the amount it is worth at the gate(appr. 388.00),then pay the balance oop for an AP,which is appr.675.00 at the gate, which means I pay another 287.00 at the gate for an AP, making my total cost xxx+287= total cost which is approx. 47.00 than regular gate cost(?)

One year from the day you first used the ticket. And yes on the price.

Just an update on our experience. We had 6day park hopper, no exp, water park which were bought from UCT back in Janurary before the most recent price increase. We had 2 adult tickets and two child tickets.

We went to upgrade our tickets on Sunday after we used them for the first time to a regular AP. We tried our upgrade at the Magic Kingdom ticket and transportation center. Our tickets were scanned by the CM and I told him what I wanted. He came back with a price of $600+. I told him these tickets should be bridged and he said you are correct. He had trouble doing it at first. He made a phone call and spoke with someone for further assistance. After working on the computer for 10 mins he came back with the price of $144.84 which was to the penny what I had calculated!!!

He did ask me several questions about our tickets. Where did I buy them from? When did I buy them? He also told me he was basing his first upgrade price off of the price paid by UCT for the ticket. The CM was very friendly told me he wanted us to pay the least possible. Also told me if they were bought directly from Disney they would not be bridged.

Anyways all is good! Happy to be passholders for the first time!!
