New Ticket Upgrade Policy?

I had the same thing happen. My actual AP said expires Dec 1, 2014 but MDE said it expired in Sept. After multiple emails and phone calls, I had to go in person to guest services to have it fixed. Then, the very very snotty CM said the ticket agent must have written the wrong date on the AP!! I was like, "um....no! I wasn't even at Disney in September. I used my ticket on Dec 1 AND upgraded on Dec 1!" Anyway, she finally changed it on the computer but it was an unpleasant experience!

Wow! I should have receipt from my credit card that I charged the upgrade on. Hopefully I can do it over the phone or I can't schedule any FP for our visit in advance (not that I really am that thrilled about having to schedule in advance anyway)... But this definitely explains what happened and will hopefully make it easier for me when trying to explain it over the phone! Thank you everyone!!

I really hope it works out for you over the phone, but don't be too surprised or discouraged if it doesn't. I called a couple people, got a return phone call from someone in ticketing and guest relations, emailed copies of my AP and credit card statement, and was eventually told I had to get it changed in person.

Another favorable report:

I upgraded my Orbitz 3+2 day tickets to FL resident APs after we used them first at Epcot on Thursday. At the end of the day, I went to guest services (just left of the ball as you enter the park) and asked to upgrade. The CM ran each of our four tickets through the process and then gave me the total. It was to the penny of what I had calculated on my own prior to our visit. I paid the difference between Thursday's 5-day gate price and the AP price.

With the orbitz deal and the bridging, we basically scored one of the APs for free.

That is great! Glad it worked out for you.

I was able to get mine fixed over the phone, but you have to talk to someone in ticketing. When you call the general WDW number you won't be sent to ticketing.

I'm not positive this is correct, but I scribbled down 407- 566-4985, as the direct number for ticketing. Also try calling the passholder hotline as a better number than the general WDW one.

Yes.

I tried calling about using Disney gift cards toward payment for upgrading to an AP. I was transferred three times, finally ending up talking to someone at central maintenance.:rotfl: He didn't know how to pass me on. Does anyone know if you can use gift cards as payment?

For some reason a bunch of Disney blogs have picked up AllEars' rumor as fact today. No idea what's going on.

Yes on Gift Cards. In person, as many as you like.

Who wants to tell them all that it's been business as usual this whole time? ;)

I've been keeping a tally since page 40 of this thread. In the last 2.5 weeks, there are 9 firsthand reports of DISers getting tickets upgraded with "normal" bridging, zero reports of anything else (though at least one of the nine did have to try at multiple locations before getting the quote they were looking for).

This is all very interesting...:thumbsup2 glad I finally found this thread! I was wondering about upgrades now..... so apparently, according to all reports, you can upgrade both UCT and Orbitz tickets(?) without issues? Even if all I wanted was to upgrade from 5-7 days, not an AP....

By calling ticketing directly, is it possible to add a day before we begin our trip? I have tickets from Orbitz. Would love to add a day before another price increase!

Yes, I used gift cards to buy AP's for my two daughters last week. I had five day tix from UT. The girls used them to enter the park on our first day, I went that afternoon to city hall at MK and said I wanted to get DVC PAP's. The CM gave me the bridged price without me even having to ask for it. I paid for both with gift cards bought at target.

If you try to add a day before using the ticket first you will not be able to get the benefit of price bridging.

Correct.

I don't know when you are heading to WDW, but the chance that you will encounter another ticket price increase in the next few months is very slight.

BUT, the chance that you'd actually lose more money than you saved by buying an Orbitz ticket and upgrading it before using it, is pretty high.

You've already saved money by buying the Orbitz tickets.
Just sit tight and wait for your trip, then upgrade the tickets after
you've used them at least once.

No luck over the phone! They nice CM told me he saw the tickets were printed on 6/22 and when we first used the 10 day passes on 6/12 but because we are DVC members we need to go to Guest Services and show our DVC card in person. He gave me a case number also so they can pull it up easily to make the correction. But, we bought the tickets with the DVC card so why can't they make the correction? I am going to call back tomorrow and see if I can make any headway. :-(

I tend to think I will be out of luck to bridge. I brought my ticket from UT and it came today. I did it as I can link it for fastpass plus. When I got there I was just going to upgrade to an AP. I won't be there till August though so I tend to think bridging will be a thing of the past then. Not a happy camper.
