New Ticket Options - Confusing or What?

My last trip to WDW, I bought the Ultimate Park Hopper (or at least I think that's what it was called then) - and I loved it. Went wherever we wanted, whenever we wanted, hakuna matata.

Now I have to decide how many days I want, what plusses to add, and whether I want the darned thing to expire. Can't anything be easy anymore?

I agree. It is confusing but the more days you buy the cheaper each day becomes. If you plan on going more than once in the next couple of years I would buy the 10 day no expire tickets. I also am a fan of park hopping. That way if the ticket price should rise you already have some at a great price.

They seemed confusing to me too, but I always hated having all those extra "options" hanging around. I'm still using all our old tickets for the water parks! So in that respect, I like not having to buy any tickets with options right now.

And when I decided to go with adding one more day (from six to seven), the cost for all four of us was a measly $28. Can't beat that!

So confusing, yes, but more accomodating, I think!

I find it pretty confusing too. I wish I would have bought more tickets last year. I was planning on buying 10 day non-expiring, but isn't it a lot more to add non-ex. for 10 days? Will the tickets really go up that much more next year? I'm not sure that it really will work out cheaper. There is so much to think about now when you buy tickets!!

I thought it was confusing too at first. Ticketmania does a good job of simplifying MYW. I just purchased 10 day, park hopper, with no expiration. The price through Tickemania is $340.00, which averages out at 34.00 a day. That ten day ticket will last us 2-3 trips. That's quite a savings!

Just buy the plus pack. I personally like the new system. It is cheaper with the tix we choose as opposed to the old park hoppers.

Here is another BIG difference in the new tickets! Having stayed on property in the past , we thought the Hopper tickets were still good for the day you check out..THANK GOD for these boards! under the NEW plan they ARE NOT! ..However, and this depends on the length of your stay, for $6.00
(total for a party of 6) we extended our park hoppers for 1 day!

Okay, well, look at it this way.

If you buy a five-day expiring hopper this year it'll cost you $242.82/adult $202.35 child (from Disney, for comparison purposes). Then, again for ease, let's say the price doesn't go up before your 2006 trip. You're paying a total of $485.64/A $404.70/C for the two trips.

Instead, you purchase ten-day non-expiring hoppers this year at $366.36/A $321.63/C.

You're spending more up front but saving over $120 per ticket overall.

The Ultimate Park Hopper was linked to your room in a "length of stay" situation. It expired at midnight the last day you stayed in your room, and couldn't be made to not expire. It included unlimited admission to the 4 Major Disney Parks, 2 Disney Water Parks, Disney Quest, Pleasure Island and Disney's Wide World of Sports. They are no longer offered.

The closest thing you can get to something like that without getting a Premium Annual Pass would be the 10 day MYW Park Hopper w/ 5 Magic Plus Option and opt to either have it expire in 14 days or have the no expiration option added. This would give you 10 days to park hop between the 4 major parks and 5 additional options to visit the 2 Disney water parks, Disney Quest, Pleasure Island and Disney's Wide World of Sports. The option visits do not count against your park hopper days, however if you use a park hopper day and an option on the same day, it will take one of each. Also, if you go say Typhoon Lagoon during the day and Pleasure Island at night, it would take off 2 of your options.

The tickets are available for anywhere from 1 to 10 days, however the amount of plusses you receive is based on the number of park days on your ticket, so for a 1 to 3 day ticket, you would pay an additional $45 and receive 2 plusses. On a 4-5 day ticket for that $45 you would receive 3 plusses, on a 6 day ticket for that $45 you would receive 4 plusses and for the 7 to 10 day ticket you would receive 5 plusses. To add a Park hopper option to the ticket, it is an additional $35 plus tax. To add non expiration on a 2 to 3 day ticket, it is $10, on a 4 day ticket it is $15, on a 5 day ticket it is $35, on a 6 day ticket it is $45, on a 7 day ticket, it is $55 and on an 8 to 10 day ticket it is an addition $100. None of these prices include tax, which is 6.5%.

I always found the UPH to be more expensive than buying "regular" tickets or an annual pass (depending on how many days we were going). I like the current tickets since you only pay for what you want. As someone mentioned, Ticketmania does sort them out very well.

10 day non-expiring tickets are great for multiple short trips.

But for 9, 10, and sometimes 8 day trips you may find an expiring ticket for the exact number of days more of a bargain. This is because the 'lot more to add non-ex. for 10 days' is spread out over the few days and plusses that are left over.

You can still do things the easy way, saving time as opposed to money. Back then you had to decide how many days you wanted too, you made that decision when you booked the resort.

Whether you want the darned thing to expire was still a question way back when as it is now. If you bought the Ultimate Park Hopper, it expired (day of checkout). If you bought a regular park hopper, it did not expire.

Plusses are more restricted now, you can't visit the water parks all you want any more (boo, hiss). (The non-ultimate non-expiring hopper plus tickets from yesteryear also had a small finite number of plus admissions.)

I was confuse also until I went back and reread everything and figured how much a 10 day hopper with no expiration would cost. I believe it was 36.00 or as the op said 34.00 thru ticketmania. You can't beat that. From now on we will get the 10 day and use it for two separate trips.
