New Thread - What have you seen on the EA?

I was there the first week of July and EA was full of minivans. We picked out a brand new Toyota Siena 8 passenger that only had 6 miles on it.

I couldn't believe how many vans were in that aisle. We arrived on a Tues at midnight--I don't know if that makes a difference.

I think you are one of the very few here on the DIS! ;)

You have to rent a lot of cars to qualify for Executive Aisle. I would LOVE it but I couldn't ever travel down there more then 2 times a year with airfare what it is up here...someday maybe.

If you work for a major corporation that uses National for corporate rentals, you may want to check with your travel dept to see if you could qualify for an Executive Card. My company had a message up on our travel site to e-mail a person at National to get a free Executive Card. I did and got the card about a week ago. The funny thing is Avis is our primary car rental company and National is secondary. I can only book National for company travel if Avis is not available. So I'm not sure why they ran this promotion for my company.

We are also Executive. Every once in a while, we get a better selection on Emerald. It is nice having the choice to choose from both.

You have to have 40 "day" of rental's for excutive after this trip I will have 39!!!!!!! :confused3 Can you believe it SO close, oh well, Maybe I will have to go to the neighborhood national car rental and just borrow one for the day? ;)

Mky princess:

Yes we missed it by 1 day the first year, because the program started and had we known we would've rented locally. National sent us an email telling us how many more days we need to keep our status. Yes it's 40 days. We have 6 trips this year.

We fly out of Wash. DC and the airfare has been pretty good this year. But next year we plan to cut our trips to only 4.

One of the nice things about Executive Aisle is that we only need 6 rental credits (vs 7 on Emerald Aisle) to reach a 1 day free rental. And free rentals can be combined. Right now I have 2 free days and plan to use it on a minivan rental in December.

Allibri, I didn't know I could choose from either aisle! I'll keep that in mind if I ever need a minivan. The Executive aisle often has SUVs, but we always have our eye out for a luxury car. My last couple of trips has been through FLYI so we come in gate A--both times both aisles have been packed!

Yes, one of the agents told us, either aisle.

Since I got the executive card, I was able to go in and modify my 11/26 to 12/2 reservation to executive selection and it dropped from $132 to $119 (full size to intermediate price)! Since I just booked air, I was able to put the airline & flight # in and revised the pickup time. I got a revised reservation screen print & e-mail. I originally made the reservation back in March and was surprised that it let me modify it and didn't take the rate up to the current one which is much higher.

We just got back. Lots of intermediate cars on the "A" side aisle on 8/4/05, but just past the pole before the exit there was one minivan. We immediately pulled over and switched cars. :cool1:

I didn't notice what was there on 8/11 as we were running to catch our flight.

when I made my reservation, full size was listed as "Buick Regal or similar", but now it is listed as "Chevy Impala or similar". I'm hoping for something with a BIG trunk when we go next week!

1st time National renter.....A side or B side...??? Is that of the airport? Is there two Nationals at MCO? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

yes there are two sides. Depending who you are flying with will determine which gate you go to. If you are picking up your luggage each carrier uses a certain gate. For example, Delta and United both used Gate B. But now that we are flying Independence (FLYI) they use Gate A. There are 2 National terminals with one at each gate. Both across the street when you come out. Keep in mind that Gate A is on the second level--so you would take the escalator up to the upper level.

Thank you n2mm! We're actually staying at the Hyatt in the airport because we have a late flight, so I just looked & the Hyatt is on terminal A side....I guess what cars are there are just the luck of the draw!! (Had I picked up after my flight, I would have been terminal B!! Of course.) Hopefully they both will have some cars to choose from. Some of the posts sound like it's hit or miss!! thanks again!

They are no longer manufacturing Buick Regals, so that's why they changed it. The Impala's have a huge trunk.
