Announcement:

Effective immediately, all NEW threads will first have to be approved before they will post.

This is due to the large volume of threads which do not meet posting requirements, including proper titles, and/or requirements for existing reservation posts.

For the last few days, it has averaged approximately 30 threads/day that do not meet posting requirements, the majority of these were for not using approved Lead-Ins on their thread title, but there were still too many not meeting the Existing Reservations requirements.

How will it work?

When a thread is submitted, it will not immediately be posted but instead goes to a Moderation Queue where it is reviewed for both content and title. If it meets all posting requirements, it will be validated.

This may take up to 24 hours for a validation to occur. After validation, it will appear on the R/T board. If it is not approved, it will not appear. You will not receive any type of notification that your thread was not approved. Just check back in 24 hours to see if it has posted or not.

Validation is required for new threads only. It is not required for responses within a thread. Replies to an existing thread will post immediately. (Note however that posting requirements still apply for all answers posted. Specifically this means the requirements applicable to the posting of existing reservations for rent)

You can get further information regarding posting requirements by clicking one of the links below:

The system is in place and all threads submitted as of 5:00pm have been reviewed.

If yours was submitted before 5pm and still does not appear on the board at this time, it did not meet the posting requirement either for title or content. Please repost - paying particluar attention to the Title requirements for this board.

Thanks!

Shouldn't this thread be closed since it was bumped using "bump" instead of the correct "bumping"?

To keep a thread active, the originator must bump the thread on a weekly basis. This is accomplished by the thread originator making a new single post reply in the thread, with the single comment "bumping".

SpencerBomar,You are technically incorrect, although humorous.:rotfl2:

Since it is a weekly requirement, it would seem that they have one week to correctly write "bumping".

Since this is an announcement post, different 'rules' will apply. :teeth:

The software program to check if a thread has been bumped is not fully functional yet, so we are checking manually for now, and are being somewhat lenient on the phrase used, as long as it is in a single post by itself, with no other comments.

Threre are only three things to be addressed for a thread that has already been validated.

1. If a point quantity is used within the thread name, such as "300 OKW points available", and that changes, then the title must be edited to reflect the remaining points.

2. To keep a thread active, it must be 'bumped' at least weekly. It may be bumped more often if the originator wishes to keep it closer to the top of the listing.

3. When an originator is done with a thread, they must 'close' it by editing the title.

If an originator does not correctly bump or close a thread, but just leaves it dangling out there, and we wind up having to lock it, a record is kept. Continuous violations will result in that originator not having future threads validated.

The purpose of keeping a thread 'active' or closed is to prevent occurrences such as we have had in the past where someone posts a lot of points for rent, and then never replies, while others keep replying to the thread for months on end. You may recall one such instance where a thread originator never responded to any posts, and after awhile someone offered something like $20/point, in jest. There was still no reply.

The point is, you cannot just create a posting, and then abandon it.

Hope this helps.
