"Dinning" and "loose" instead of lose drive me nuts! I can understand other misspellings and I'm not a perfect speller, but I don't see how you can look at either of those and not say in your head "dinning" or "loose". N is doubled so the i is short. "OO" says oo. It's just strange to me.

Well, I know what you mean, but the problem with "lose" is that the single O does sound like OOh. The only pronunciation difference between "lose" and "loose" is the voicing of the consonant ... z not s sound. "Lose" is irregular and has to be memorized.

But the difference between loose and lose isn't the oo sound. It's the sound that the s makes.

Yep, you're both right, that didn't make sense!

I guess I just can't look at the word loose without thinking "loos" and not "looz".

Oh, that's the place where you can order potato pie or Guinness Cake for desert! Yes, I think the Irish pub (O'Hana's) fits VERY well into the theme at the Polynesian Resort!

I'm the same way with could of, should of, would of. How can anyone look at that and think that it makes sense?

My favorite last year was the thread with someone asking if everyone got a "lay" at 'Ohana! And she couldn't understand why everyone thought the question was hilarious!
