I had to go buy new glasses today. I usually wear contacts, but need glasses for the early morning and late evening time. I couldn't believe how the new styles look kind of like what I wore in high school in the mid '60's!!! It really is true that styles keep returning! I am not sure I like them, but.......

LOL Diane! I just went through this last week. I kept looking at the glasses and thinking--those look like the ones that I wore 30 years ago! I am not terribly happy with my choice either, but the young girl that helped me assured me that I look terribly fashionable now!:D

My mom recently bought a new pair of glasses and when she got them she went home and cried. She went back to the store and couldn't find any she liked more. :(

She does look more like her mom than ever before - LOL!

The newest style is little glasses, rather like John Lennon wore in the late 60's/early 70's

It's tough to find attractive frames these days

Another reason to get lasik if you can! LOL, Jk I was at the eye dr a few weeks ago getting my yearly exam and I have to agree about the styles, some of those aren't good for people who have really bad eyes, even with the new stuff to make the lenses thnner, they just don't look right.

What about the frameless glasses? I always think they look cool.

At first I thought this thread was about the huge plastic frame glasses, the ones that took up your entire face! Thank goodness they're not back in style!

I have frameless, they're very comfortable and almost look like you're not wearing glasses at all. They are more delicate though due to not having a frame to protect them.

My secone pair are Transition wire rims a la John Lennon!

My new frames (bought last Oct.) are semi-frameless. The shape isn't exactly what I wanted, they're mostly rectangular, but they are very nice looking. I love them because they are made of stainless steel and are lightweight. I was on the sideline watching DD play indoor soccer this past winter when I was clocked in the nose by the ball from about 1-2 yds. The glasses didn't break. If I would have been wearing my old plastic ones I sure they would have broken and my face probably would have been cut. I was fortunate to have only suffered a bloody nose, worsened by the fact that I had just taken a cold medicine before the game. It was pretty ugly.

I've been seeing a lot of new eyeglasses that are so small. My prescription sunglasses are oval and I couldn't imagine wearing anything smaller. I have enough trouble with peripheral vision, it could only be worsened with those little frames.

I love my cats eyes shaped glasses. They look very retro and I have a hard time taking them off to put my contaacts in. LOL
