Epcot view? Depends how high up you are.
We had a lake view on the bottom floor last year.
Saw the higher fireworks and a great view of lake , bridge and ok view of the boardwalk.

Hi Kevin, sorry it took me so long to get back. the spg site only says:Whimsical Themed Room With View Of Crescent Lake.
Room Amenities Traditional Non-Smoking, Lake View, Courtyard View, Hollywood Bath, Armoire/Tv/Stocked Minibar.

So I do not know which floor. Guess I'll have to see when I get there!

It does say both Lake & Courtyard views, so now I'm going to have to find a good map & see which rooms look at both.

Wow! That description makes me smile :D Did you 'book' a resort view?

Just curious...

They didn't ask me if I wanted a resort view, this was a free upgrade to Lakeview.

I cannot locate a good enough picture that shows the Swan, lake, courtyard & Epcot to figure out where the room could be.

Hi csmommy

There were posts a little over a year ago on the Dolphin/Swan thread on this site that showed the views from a couple different locations within the Dolphin. Search back to that date and it might help, I hope. I remember seeing posts and pics from rooms 1107 or somewhere in that vicinity.

csmommy any idea how you got an upgrade so early? I have gotten that same upgrade but didn't show on my ressie until we checked in.

I just booked Dec 26, 27 at the Dolphin Executive Suite on POINTS!!!!!!

ONly about another 300 days......

I'm posting this in both the Dolphin thread and SPG because both have people who know a lot! Sorry if this causes any problems.

Hey!

I just read how some people are calling up and getting upgraded to Platinum for free! What number would I call? For those with Platinum, it says you get the best room available, what rooms have you gotten?

Thanks!
Mike

When and where can I find deals that let you book with points, or 1/2 points, 1/2 cash etc.? Zurgswife, can you still book with points only? How did you find this?

Starwood will match other Platinum Hotel Cards. I have not heard of Starwood just upgrading a person to Plat w/o another Plat Card. Starwood did match my Plat. marriot and Loews just matched my Starwood Platinum card!

Samsma....You can book with points....and if the specials are available at the resort you want they sometimes do 50/50. I wanted a Suite so I called SPG directly to figure out how to arrange this....but you can book some point stays directly on the SPG site....

Does anybody know the locations of the Executive Suites at the Dolphin....I'm hoping there are some with a great view...

They matched my DH plat from Hilton, allowed us to book the teacher discount (I am the teacher) and we were upgraded to the Club level!!!!!!:) I think that was very nice of them to allow us to combine the two and be on the club level. It is wonderful up there.:) :)

zurgswife.....can't help with the view, but I know dreamflight can as soon as she sees your Q. I know there are ex. suites with wonderful views. How many points did it cost you per night? You must have a bunch! Be sure to post upon return....300 days from now...lol! We will probably still be here waiting!

Ozziewags.....I figured Dreamflight would know...so I'm waiting patiently....it was 20,000 points per night.....the same as booking 2 rooms....I thought it would be more fun in a suite then just 2 hotel rooms for 2 nights...:D :D :D :D :D

Great news!!

In the mail my sister was sent a AMEX Platinum card! Both my parents and her had been using the AMEX SPG card so I'm not sure if this is the reason why she recieved the Platinum card (she spends a lot of $$$$$$ lol).

Anyway it says she gets an upgrade to SPG Gold level! This is great news for us and we hope to use this for our trip to the Dolphin this summer.

Do we call up SPG to ask for her new card?

I hear how people have called up and gotten upgraded to Platinum Preferred!

Since she has a Platinum AMEX, would they upgrade her SPG to Platinum also?

Thanks

Mike

The only way I know of to get upgraded to Platinum SPG is to have the required number of stays or call and ask to have your SPG card matched to another hotel's Platinum card, like diamond Hilton, or platinum Marriott, etc. The only AMEX Starwood credit card I ever had was platinum and I think that is based on your spending and credit record. But be glad you will now have gold. You may be able to receive complimentary upgrades more easily, depending on who answers the phone at your hotel.....lol!

Here's a point question for you guys. We have ALOT of points with Hilton, enough for about 20 free nights. Has anyone ever transfered points form one hotel chain to another? It would be so nice to transfer our Hilton points to Starwood and then use them at the Swan. We can use them at the DDHilton which is always nice BUT our favorite is the Swan. Any thoughts? Ideas of where to start?:) Thanks

To be honest, I'm not sure if you can do that????? Maybe you would want to redeem your Hilton points for plane tickets instead? Save that cash towards the Swan. Or one of the hotel chains did offer park tickets as a redemption value too - don't remember if it was Hilton or not.

I will be surprised if we would be allowed to transfer since the points were earned by money spent at Hilton and that must be considered in the cost of the "free" nights. If I find out anything I will post it. If we can't transfer we will either stay in DD Hilton or just use the points at another location. DH gathers frequent flier miles along with the hotel stays so we are better off just useing the points at the hotel. Thanks for the idea though.:)

Wow, this thread is really great! I am surprised to find it here.
For frequent flyers/stayers type programs, I usually look at flyertalk.com, which is really helpful. There's a Starwood rep "Starwood Lurker" who occasionally pops up on the Starwood board to answer specific questions. But then, nothing like being on the DIS board with my friendly fellow DIS'ers. :D

jgates is right. HHonors points can be used to buy hopper passes for WDW as well as Disneyland and Universal. This may be off the Starwood topic but Disneycrazymom, have you looked into redeeming some of those HHonors points for the ALON or GLON awards at locations like Hawaii or Carribeans? Some of these properties look pretty awesome.
