New (smaller) WDW rental strollers

I suppose I could rent a double and then if they don't fit they can take turns riding.

I was going to bring DD1s stroller anyway for the airport and to have around the hotel and for shopping etc, so it wouldn't be so much trouble to bring that one on the buses and just have two in the parks.

So, I think I've just answered my own question - bring DD1s stroller and rent a double:rotfl2: Typing the question in just makes you think better!

Your solution can also be to rent the special needs push chair from Orlando Stroller Rentals. It is rated for 100lbs. The Disney strollers do have weight limits although nobody thinks they do and they are rarely enforced.

Here is my DS6 who is 47" tall and weighs 45 pounds soaking wet on our December 2008 trip. Yes, he feet hung over the edge, but he was perfectly content to sit in this Epcot stroller for 2 days and it was easy to use. This was a single btw.

Those are the older strollers and have since been replaced. Your DS would not fit in the new single. You would have most likely had to get a double for him to fit.

We had two stroller with us one day on our last trip. We had the double we rented from OSR, but we also brought our Chicco umbrella stroller (that we used in the airport) with us to the park in case we wanted to divide up for a while. It turned out we didn't use the single one much at all, so we ended up just parking it in the stroller parking section in Fantasyland for the rest of the day and picking it up on our way out.

I just got back yesterday from BWV (just my husband and I) and was aghast to see that Epcot and Magic Kingdom had both replaced their regular size rentals for ones much smaller and shorter (both double and single have been replaced for smaller versions). We normally rent the double and fit both our girls (5 & 8) comfortably. We are headed back next month with the whole crew and I know we no longer have a use for the size stroller they now rent. I even went as far to stop a guest to ask her about the smaller strollers and she replied that she rented two doubles, one for each child. Not sure about the other parks as we only visited Epcot and MK. I would like to know if Disney is doing this to discourage parents of older children (5 & up) from using the rentals, is it more space efficient (stroller parking) or are they really trying to squeeze more $$$ out of us??? Has anyone else noticed these changes.

I did a search on the boards, so I really hope I am not feeding you all old news.

I don't know if you are familiar with the stroller swaps, but you can get a good size double jogger (many swappers use them for their 5, 6, 7, or 8yo's) for your entire stay for less than the cost of a one day stroller rental. If you are going back in Feb. and are interested check out the link in my signature.

How about my DS5 who is average sized 45 lbs/45 inches and my DS8 (special needs) who is small (50lbs/48 inches)? We are planning to rent a double. I assume there would be times that they would take turns and times they would want to ride together. Do you think this would work for us? I really don't want to rent from outside the parks or bring my own because I don't want to deal with lugging it on the buses. I'm so bummed about this...
