New Ship

Hi, has anyone heard anymore information on a new Disney Ship coming out in the near future? When we cruised in May, the Captain made a slight hint about it, and the possibility that it would be called "Disney Dreams".

A kid mentioned it to my daughter on our cruise last week. His parents are both CM's and he felt he had the inside information. I hope if it's true that the ship will be placed on the west coast for Mexican Riviera and Alaskan cruises.

This rumor comes about every few months. Officially, DCL says that they are looking into a new ship, but neither Disney nor any major shipyard have announced a contract to build a new ship for Disney. If they signed a contract for a newbuild today, it probably wouldn't be in service until 2004.

If and when Disney does order a new ship, we'll know about it well in advance. There are only so many places in the world which can build a large cruise ship, and there really aren't any secrets in the industry. For example, Royal Caribbean, Princess, and HAL all currently have five ships on order, in various stages of production. Carnival should get a new one, Carnival Legend this month, with another by the end of the year, and then four more between then and 2005.

Well, if you notice on the on-line reservations, they usually add a new month you can reserve each month, however they have not gone past April 2004 for several months - maybe something is up!! Let's Hope. On our last cruise, they would rumoring that it would go thru the Panama Canal.
